1. Requirements ElsaWin 4.10 must be installed. In addition, the following programs must be installed on the server before ElsaWin can be updated to version 5.0: 1. Microsoft Installer MSI 4.5 (or higher) 2. Microsoft.Net 3.5 SP1 (or higher) 3. Microsoft Power Shell 1.0 (or higher) Note: Please ensure that all clients are logged off the server during the installations. Only the system administrator can perform the installation. Before starting the installation, log on to your ElsaWin server (standalone devices, e.g. VAS diagnostic tester) with your administrator authorisation. Please close all applications (server and connected clients) and restart the server. When installing the program on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems, the option "Run as administrator" must be activated when starting the installation program. Please observe the supplementary instructions "Installing Adobe SVG plugin with Windows 7". The update to ElsaWin 5.00 requires more storage capacity in the ElsaWin installation folder than the existing ElsaWin 4.10 installation. The amount of storage capacity required depends on how many information media, brands and languages are installed. The setup program for the ElsaWin 5.00 update checks whether sufficient capacity is available before the update. If insufficient storage capacity is available, a message appears and the update is not started. The update can take significantly longer if any anti-virus software is active. Page 3 of 21
2. Updating to version 5.00 Please log on to the server with your administrator authorisation. Insert the "ElsaWin disk1_upd" disc into the CD drive and perform the following steps: Open the Windows Explorer. Select your CD drive in the Explorer tree on the left side. In the right window of the Explorer, double click on Elsa_50_Upd_Setup.exe to start the program. When installing the program on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems, the option "Run as administrator" must be activated when starting the installation program. Open the Windows Explorer. Select "R:\Elsa_50_Upd_Setup.exe". Right click on "Run as administrator". Note: An installation in silent mode can be started with the command prompt option /S. The options /s, -S, and -s. are also possible. Page 4 of 21
Select the language for the installation. Click on "OK". Note: Checking that the software requirements for the ElsaWin installation have been met The ElsaWin setup program now checks whether all software requirements for the ElsaWin installation have been met. The data management system of the ElsaWin server has been changed from Microsoft Access databases to Microsoft SQL Server databases. The ElsaWin setup program installs an instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express on the ElsaWin server for this purpose. The software requirements for the SQL Server installation are also checked. If one or more requirements has not been met, the following message will appear with a list of missing software: In this example, none of the software requirements for installation of Microsoft SQL Server has been met. Click on "OK" to close the setup program. Install the missing software (specified version or higher) on the ElsaWin server computer and then run the ElsaWin setup program again. You can obtain the license-free Microsoft software, which is required in order to install Microsoft SQL Server, from the Microsoft Download Centre (http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/default.aspx) When all software requirements for the ElsaWin installation have been met, the following dialog box will appear immediately after the installation language is selected. Click on "Next". Page 6 of 21
Select the desired reference medium. Choose whether or not the BB gate service should be installed Choose the folder in which BB gate should be installed The IP address (DNS alias) and port number of the DMS backbone will be displayed. Please ask support before changing this value. If necessary, change the default installation folder for the Microsoft SQL Server instance. Then click on "Next". Page 7 of 21
Click on "Next". Page 8 of 21
The previous installation folder is used as the destination folder. Only change the destination folder after consultation with the support services Click on "Next". Page 9 of 21
Click on "Next". During the update to ElsaWin 5.00 the setup program imports the existing Access databases from ElsaWin Version 4.10 into SQL Server databases. If there is only a small amount of free capacity available on the hard disk partition on which the ElsaWin system is installed, the following "Select backup directory" dialogue will appear. There you should select a directory on another hard disk partition with sufficient free capacity to which the existing ElsaWin databases can be backed up before the import. If the update has to be aborted in the event of an error, the ElsaWin setup program can restore ElsaWin Version 4.10 from this backup directory. If you select a directory on an external hard disk, that hard disk must remain connected to the ElsaWin computer until the setup program has finished running. Page 10 of 21
Select a backup directory with at least the minimum free capacity for saving the existing ElsaWin databases. The selected backup directory must not be located on the hard disk partition(s) specified here. If an error causes the update to be aborted while the ElsaWin 4.10 databases are being imported into the ElsaWin 5.00 SQL Server databases, the ElsaWin 4.10 databases will automatically be restored from the backup directory before the update is aborted. If the update program crashes (e.g. due to a power failure) while the ElsaWin 4.10 databases are being imported into the ElsaWin 5.00 SQL Server databases, the ElsaWin 4.10 databases must be copied manually from the backup directory back into the ElsaWin 4.10 data directory ( \ElsaWin\data). Page 11 of 21
Click on "Install". Page 12 of 21
If an installation error occurs while the ElsaWin 4.10 Access databases are being imported into the ElsaWin 5.00 SQL Server databases, the following error message will appear. Click on "OK" Page 13 of 21
In this case the update program will restore the ElsaWin 4.10 databases and abort the installation of ElsaWin 5.00. Click on "Cancel" Page 14 of 21
Click on "Next". Page 15 of 21
If the ElsaWin program installation can be completed without restarting the ElsaWin server computer, the following window will appear: Click on "Finish". If the ElsaWin program installation requires you to restart the ElsaWin server computer, the following window will appear: Page 16 of 21
Choose when you want to restart. Click on "Finish". If you restart the ElsaWin server computer later, you will have to log in again as administrator so that the ElsaWin setup program can configure the remaining settings after the restart. If you have also installed the BB gate service, check whether the following service exists in the DMS Backbone. Open the Internet Explorer and go to http://lpnbb:81. Call up the services from there. For DMSBB 4.x you will have to log in first. Page 17 of 21
If the service "OrderService" is shown, you have completed the ElsaWin 5.00 update. If the service "OrderService" is not listed in the DMS Backbone, you must create it as follows. Right click on Start and open the Explorer. In My Computer > Appl (D): > srv_apps > bbgate, you will find the file "dmsbb_config_orderservice.cmd". Start it with a double-click. After running the file successfully, please check again whether the service is listed in the DMS Backbone. Page 18 of 21
3. Client update After completion of the server installation, the client update will automatically begin when a connected ElsaWin client program is started. When installing the program on Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems, the installation program requires local administrator rights. Click on "OK". Select the language for the installation. Click on "OK". Page 19 of 21
Please close all other programs and click on "Next" Your configuration will be shown once more in the following window. Click on "Install". The copying process will then be started. Page 20 of 21
