Page 5 of 5 1 SERVICE OVERVIEW A mobile telephone network requires a radio interface towards its subscribers. For this reason an extra possible outcome to a call attempt towards a mobile subscriber is introduced in addition to the outcomes that are common to fixed networks, i.e. answered, busy, no reply. This extra outcome is not reachable and means that the subscriber has deregistered his/her handset from the network (e.g. by switching it off) or does not have any radio resources available to him (e.g. is in an area of no radio coverage). The Call Forwarding on Subscriber Not Reachable service permits a called subscriber to have the network send all incoming calls, or just those associated with a specific bearer service group, addressed to the called mobile subscriber s directory number, but which is not reachable, to another directory number. The service completes the full range of diversion facilites (when mobile environments are considered) by adding to the CFU, CFB, CFNR and CD diversion services specified in [2]. The service is applicable to called mobile subscribers accessing the mobile network via mobile handsets. The functionality to perform the forwarding procedure resides in the mobile telephone exchanges. This specification defines how the UK-ISUP protocol should carry the indication that a CFNRc divert has occurred through the network. The subscriber can activate and deactivate the CFNRc service and instruct the network on the number to which to forward calls by MMI on the mobile handset which then informs the network via signalling messages. When activated, the CFNRc service only affects incoming calls to the subscriber that arrive when the subscriber is not reachable. Calls arriving when the subscriber is reachable on the network are treated as normal. Outgoing services from the mobile handset are not affected. 2 OPERATION OF SERVICE BY OUTGOING NETWORK If a CFNRc divert occurs then the outgoing network shall give an indication that this type of divert has occurred by the appropriate setting in the call setup message sent out to the next exchange. 3 OPERATION OF SERVICE BY INCOMING NETWORK If the incoming network receives a call set up message indicating that a CFNRc divert has occurred then the normal rules applicable to a call that has undergone call forwarding shall be applied to process the call.
