(2) Global Learning: Freshmen entering FIU Summer B 2010 or later must take at least two Global Learning (GL) designated courses at FIU. See http://goglobal.fiu.edu. s must be: - 1 GL foundation course (from the University Core Curriculum), which must be taken within the first 60 credits. - 1 GL discipline-specific course (3000/4000 level) (3) Summer Requirement: All students entering FIU or any university within the State University System (SUS) of Florida with fewer than 60 credit hours are required to earn at least nine credit hours prior to graduation by attending one or more summer terms at a university in the SUS. (4) Gordon Rule: All Gordon Rule courses (i.e., English Composition, Humanities with Writing, and Quantitative Reasoning) must be completed with a minimum grade of "C." This requirement must be fulfilled within the first 60 credits.

6 of 6 (5) Foreign Language Requirement for Graduation (FLENT/FLEX): A student who did not complete two years of the same foreign language in high school or at a post-secondary institution must successfully complete 8-10 credit hours of instruction in one foreign language prior to graduation. Exceptions include appropriate CLEP, AP, IB, TOEFL, or transfer credit. Contact your advisor for more information. College of Education Requirements / Initial Teacher Preparation Programs (ITEP) FER - FIELD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - additional hours outside of class time - Contact the Office of Clinical Experiences (ZEB 230 / 348-2082) after registration for FINGERPRINT clearance information and school site selection. TESTING - ITEP programs require completion of the Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FTCE). The examinations include FTCE-General Knowledge Test (GK), FTCE-Professional Education Exam (PEd) and FTCE-Subject Area Examinations (SAE). These exams must be passed prior to starting the student teaching semester. ITEP ADMISSION - students must meet minimum criteria for entry into ITEP programs which include completion of prerequisites, 2.500 grade point average and FTCE-GK. Seek advisement early on through the Advising Center (ZEB 221 / 348-2768). STUDENT TEACHING INTERNSHIP - the capstone experience for all ITEP programs occurs during students last semester (fall or spring only). All courses must be completed and entire FTCE passed prior to the start of student teaching. Students must apply for student teaching in the Office of Clinical Experiences (ZEB 230 (305) 348-2082). Applications are due by February 1st for the fall semester and June 1st for the spring semester student teaching. College of Education: Elementary Education Specific Requirements 1. TSL & RED methods courses need to be completed in planned map order. 2. Content courses other than RED and TSL may be completed in any order. 3. TSL courses not offered in Summer Term.
