In accordance with the European Higher Education Area, commonly known as the Bologna Process, our studies are structured into three clearly differentiated stages. The first stage comprises Degree studies, constituting the first point of contact with the university system. Once the degree has been successfully completed, the University Master s Degree courses enable students either to specialise with a view to their future professional career or to obtain the training required to enter the third educational stage, doctorate studies. The University Master s Degree courses thus fulfil a dual function. For many students they represent a furthering of their degree, diploma, engineering or technical engineering studies, offering a more in-depth study of the subjects and skills which they consider most useful in terms of entering the labour market. In addition, however, for those who wish to enter the field of research via doctorate studies, they represent a period of basic training which will enable them to become research students. The University of Alcalá has made a clear commitment to becoming a benchmark in the world of Postgraduate studies, offering our students more than 50 University Master s Degree courses, to which can be added an equally broad range of Doctorate programmes. Due to their extremely specialised nature, some of these studies require the collaboration of university teachers from other institutions, and these are therefore offered in association with other Spanish universities, thus optimising use of the public resources in such short supply these days. Work experience in companies constitutes a fundamental aspect of the majority of the courses we offer, enabling us to introduce our students to the real world.
