Commission on Teacher Credentialing California s state teacher and educator licensing agency Oldest independent standards board in the nation (one of 17 such boards) Commission that reports to the Governor s Office Commissioners appointed by the Governor and represent specific constituencies 5
The Commission on Teacher 19 member body Credentialing 15 voting members, 4 non voting members 14 appointed by the Governor, 1 Designee of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, 1 representative each from UC, CSU, Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU), and California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. Important Facts EL authorizations are required when the local level determines EL instructional services are needed. Once an EL authorization is earned, it remains in force as long as the credential is valid. All current CTC-approved teacher preparation programs provide preparation for EL Authorization 43
