Approved by the peak national body, MFAA, our Mentor Programme suits: Graduates who have successfully completed their Certificate IV or Diploma of Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage Broking Management) Those who have made the decision to pursue a career in mortgage broking full-time. Successful professionals wanting to complement their services and/ or financial services business. Our Structured Mentor Programme You do not get MFAA approval unless your Mentor Programme is one of the most comprehensive, well rounded how-to programmes in the market. This is a programme designed for you. New entrants can expect the structure and ongoing support they need to successfully achieve their goals. This programme has ALL the key elements: Industry Compliance, Business Planning, Loan Products, Lending Structures, Marketing Strategies, Business Development and Financial Selling Skills. It combines both classroom and in the field learning environments. For you this means consistent, measurable, high performance results that really matter.

Mentor Programme Monthly Speakers During the 24 months of your mentor programme there will be a variety of guests invited to speak with you each month. These Speaker Days will usually comprise one lender BDM and either one or two invited guest speakers. PRICING: Two Year Mentor Programme $12,000* (+ gst) The MFAA Certified Mentor Programme provided by Effective Mentoring comprises: 24 x Full day workshops using MFAA Certified Mentor Programme modules. 20 x One day Seminars with BDM s and invited guest speakers. Face to Face meetings with your mentor. (Minimum 20 in first year) Refresher workshops are available if required. Phone, Text and Email support 7.00am to 7.00pm Monday to Saturday. Mentee s will also receive an additional 12 months of email support after completion of the programme at no additional cost. Payment system: Deposit Payments $ 4,000 + gst: Non Refundable deposit to be paid upon acceptance to the course. $ 8,000 + gst: To be paid over the two years in (24) monthly payments. Additional costs: MFAA Certified Mentor Programme workshop modules are provided by the MFAA at $500* (+ gst) A total of Eight Modules are required over the 2 year Mentoring program. All Mentee s are required to purchase and download the Workshop Modules directly from the MFAA. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points Both the MFAA and ASIC require brokers to earn a minimum 30 CPD Points each year to maintain their accreditations. The CPD point system applies to both the Mentoring Course and attendance at the monthly speaker days. Attendance at speaker days by Mentee s is compulsory, past Mentee s and other MFAA members may attend should they wish. *Prices current at Dec 2011

Joining the Industry and Becoming an Accredited Broker Follow our step-by-step Guide: Complete your Certificate IV in Financial Services (Finance/Mortgage Broking) FNS40804. Complete our Mentor Programme Application Form which can be ordered by emailing helen@effectivementoring.com.au or calling us during business hours on 0418 901 128 Complete the MFAA Initial Compliance Pack 201A which comprises 2 online exams on which you must achieve a 90% pass mark (out of 3 attempts). To access the pack, go to www.mfaa.com.au Obtain an original certified copy of your National Police Check (name and date of birth ONLY). To download an application form, go to www.afp.gov.au. Obtain an original certified copy of your Credit Check, no more than 3 months old. To order a copy of your Credit File from Veda Advantage, go to www.mycreditfile.com.au Obtain an original certified copy of your Driver s License (or other photo ID) Update your Resume Obtain Professional Indemnity (PI) Insurance cover for a minimum $2 million single claim, $2 million aggregate claim and 12 months run-off cover. A list of Industry PI suppliers can be found on the MFAA website www.mfaa.com.au Decide on a Mortgage Broking Group to join. They will want to sight all the aforementioned documents (including your Mentor Programme appointment letter) and meet with you face-toface. They will then issue you EITHER a Letter of Authorisation or Letter of Intention to Authorise you to act as a Credit Representative under their Credit License. Apply for Credit Ombudsman Service Limited (COSL) Membership. COSL is an ASIC approved external dispute resolution scheme and membership is compulsory. To apply for membership, go to www.cosl.com.au and download the Credit Representative Application Form. Apply for Associate Credit Adviser (ACA) Membership Status with the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) via their website www.mfaa.com.au You will need to supply copies of all the aforementioned documents.
