The main mission of WBC16 is to gather together the best experts around the world to provide top-level and highly value-adding contributions for the development of built environments. The main theme of the WBC16 is Intelligent built environment for life. This presents a cogent message that the built environment is a very important enabler for the well-being of its citizens, the success of its companies and the competitiveness of whole society, region or country. By defining the role of built environments in this way we can see the fundamental importance of our real estate and construction sector. In the coming WBC16 congress we are turning our attention to the development of built environments in different conditions, countries and continents. Such developments can happen in different forms and scales, but always in a way where interplay between different stakeholders and experts play crucial role. These developments also need access to the latest knowledge and understanding which can be based both on industrial experiences and research-based findings. Together, and by learning from each other we can be stronger and smarter for carrying out efforts where the main target is to deliver solutions that can be called Intelligent built environments for life. Our global umbrella organization CIB has three priority themes which are seen as focus areas for overall development and transformation of real estate and construction sector. These themes are Sustainable Construction, Integrated Design and Delivery, and, Resilient Urbanisation. The coming WBC16

congress will include key note presentations and special events that directly address these priority themes. These CIB priority themes present the overall framework for the content of this congress, supported and underpinned by specific congress sub-themes. The WBC16 congress calls experts around the world to gather together to share their thinking, experiences, research-based findings and thoughts for the future regarding built environments. We present a holistic viewpoint over this topic that includes different dimensions from built environment as a system down to pragmatic end-user experiences and daily operations. Seven sub-topics have been developed to showcase the main areas where we would like to see the majority of contributions from in terms of presentations, workshops, special sessions and relating papers. Regarding nature and outdoor conditions Each area i.e. sub-topic is presented using a simple but general challenge that expresses direction or need for different contributions. Each of these areas represents a broad totality. Thus, anyone whose work and expertise relates to the built environments can clearly place their work in one of these seven areas easily. The activities of CIB constitute work by a wide variety of different Working Commissions and Task Groups. The members of these groups can submit their abstracts and further contributions accordingly or present specific sessions, workshops or seminars of their own. Welcome to the leading World Building Congress SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT BY JUNE 15, 2015 We call for contributions both from academia and industry. An academic contribution constitutes from abstract submission (1st stage), full paper submission (2nd stage), camera ready paper submission (3rd stage) and presentation submission (4th stage). All abstracts and full paper submissions will be double blind reviewed by leading experts. We will also cooperate with several recognized scientific journals to publish a good share of papers in WBC16 special issues or regular issues of journals in question. An industry contribution constitutes abstract submission (1st stage) and presentation submission (2nd stage). The industry contributions shall be reviewed by the organizing committee. All accepted academic and industry contributions will be published in the conference proceedings. Specific CIB contributions are also welcome for inclusion within the congress program. Such contributions include (but are not limited to): CIB roadmaps State-of-the-art reports Special reports CIB Priority Theme reporting The Congress organizers will group presentations into plenary sessions, technical sessions, seminars and workshops.
