A Guide for Printing Promotional Scratch Cards On A Budget Foreword Written by Cliff Lay, Director at Proactive Our standard ranges of scratch cards offer a fantastic and budgetconscious way to use printed scratch cards to promote your product, service or business. This Guide will help you to understand the limits of what s possible with these products, and what the limitations are. You have two choices when it comes to printing promotional scratch cards standard, or bespoke. Download our Quick Start Guide to see which is best for you, and if you think that standard is the way forward, please read on! 2
1. Our standard scratch cards come in two sizes: Regular 100mm x 50mm ACTUAL SIZE Super 135mm x 97mm ACTUAL SIZE 2. They are printed full colour (CMYK) on the front, and black only on the reverse (usually for Terms & Conditions, data capture etc). Uncoated back printed in black only Coated artboard front printed in full CMYK colour 3
3. We ll need you to supply artwork using our InDesign template (or we can help with your artwork please ask for details). Please note: Artwork supplied in other formats such as Acrobat PDF, Photoshop PSD, Illustrator EPS is acceptable but will require a small amount of studio time to make print ready. 4. The prize structure is fixed, but experience tells us that the following options cover the vast majority of day-to-day promotional campaigns. There are two choices: a. An order for 5,000 scratch cards would consist of 4 x 1,250 cards plus 10 hot cards, as follows: 4 x 1250 + 10 x Hotcards CARD 1 CARD 2 CARD 3 CARD 4 CARD 5 10 hotcards SORRY YOU DIDN T WIN THIS TIME PLEASE TRY AGAIN PRIZE 2 PRIZE 3 MAJOR PRIZE 4
You can order any multiple of 5,000 cards. For example, if you were to order 10,000 cards you would receive 4 x 2,500 plus 20 hot cards. b. An order for 6,250 scratch cards would consist of 5 x 1,250 cards, as follows: 5 x 1250 CARD 1 CARD 2 CARD 3 CARD 4 CARD 5 SORRY YOU DIDN T WIN THIS TIME PLEASE TRY AGAIN PRIZE 2 PRIZE 3 PRIZE 4 You can order any multiple of 6,250 cards. For example, if you were to order 12,500 cards you would receive 5 x 2,500 cards. 5. Standard scratch cards are printed on 240gsm artboard, which has an uncoated reverse (perfect for data capture). 6. Scratch panels can be shaped (basic shapes are fine, but nothing too intricate), and you can have as many scratch panels as you like. 7. Scratch panels should be 4mm apart, and should not run off the edge of the page. 5
8. You can duplicate prize categories if you want to, for example an order for 5,000 scratch cards could consist of: Prize 1 x 3750 / Prize 2 x 1250 / 10 Hotcards CARD 1 CARD 2 CARD 3 CARD 4 CARD 5 10 hotcards PRIZE 2 PRIZE 3 9. It is not possible to print over the top of the scratch panel of our standard scratch cards. 10. It is not possible to add unique numbers to standard scratch cards. 11. The information shown underneath the scratch panel should be printed in black only (not full colour). This helps to ensure that it s not possible to see through the scratch panel. 12. Standard scratch cards are packed as part of an automated process and are packed in bundles according to type and labelled A, B, C, D (and E, if applicable). It is not possible for us to mix cards within bundles. 6
13. Hot cards (where applicable) are packed in a bright red and clearly labelled envelope to ensure they don t get confused with your other scratch cards. 14. All scratch cards must be delivered to one address (because of our automated packing, it is not possible to split a scratch card order between addresses). 15. We would not recommend that our standard range are used if you intend to sell scratch cards. 16. Normal turnaround is 7 working days from receipt of artwork / artwork approval. We can work faster than this if you need us to, although this does cost slightly more. WHAT TO DO NEXT...CLICK!
