A person standing in the place of a parent of a child on a temporary basis is not a parent of the child. A parent of an Aboriginal child includes a person who, under Aboriginal tradition, is regarded as a parent of the child. A parent of a Torres Strait Islander child includes a person who, under Island custom, is regarded as a parent of the child.

Applications Authorised User Authorised Person ICT ITE Network Personal Equipment Systems Standard software Application software is system or network-level routines and programs designed by (and for) system users and customers. It supports specific business-oriented processes, jobs, or functions. It can be general in nature or specifically tailored to a single or limited number of functions. Current members of the staff (whether on a permanent, temporary, contract or visiting basis), who are permitted access to the C&K Network, and who have been issued by the C&K IT Department with a password or other authentication, who are permitted to use information systems and access the C&K Network from computer terminals / laptops or mobile data devices. An authorised person is a person who has been formally delegated authority by the CEO, and is empowered to perform specified duties associated on behalf of C&K. It includes all elements (e.g., routers, switches, bridges, hubs, servers, firewalls, controllers, and other devices) that are used to transport information between systems. Personal equipment can be any device or machine that is not procured by C&K for business purposes. These devices may include, but are not limited to; mass storage devices, MP3 or other media playback devices, Cameras, PDA / smart phones, Laptops, desktops, foreign virtualised operating systems, printers and other peripheral devices. A system is an assembly of computer hardware (e.g., sub-networks, application servers, file servers, workstations, data, etc.) and application software configured for the purpose of processing, handling, storing, transmitting, and receiving data, which is used in a production or support environment to sustain specific applications and business organizations in their performance of tasks and business processes. Computer software that is supported and is correctly licensed by

C&K IT Non standard software Computer software that is purchased and loaded onto C&K technology that is not supported by C&K IT PC s Personal computers Data Plan / Data Pack A data plan or data pack is an add-on component to a mobile phone or PDA Call Plan, which specifically details the amount of data usage that the device is permitted to utilize. Exceeding the stated limit on a data plan or pack, generally incurs a premium data usage charge. Mobile phone / Mobile Device Also referred to as a mobile, cell, smartphone, they provide connection to a wireless communications network allowing voice calls, sms, mms (text / image) and email messages. These devices often have the ability to access to the internet, and have facilities which allow information to be transmitted via various means. PDA Personal Digital Assistant Pool mobile A mobile phone held by a team manager that all team members can request access to for a specific period of time Data Tethering Tethering is connecting a phone or mobile device to a laptop or similar data device using wireless or a data cable, usually for the purpose of connecting to the Internet via the phone's wireless connection to the cellular network. Carriers usually charge higher fees for accessing the Internet via tethering, as opposed to accessing the internet on the phone itself. Information Intellectual property Corruption When mentioned separately, the term information can refer to personal / organisational information, images, and items deemed to be intellectual property Represents the property of your mind or intellect. It can be an invention, trade mark, original design or the practical application of a good idea Dishonest activity in which a director, executive, manager, employee or contractor of an entity acts contrary to the interests of the entity and abuses his / her position of trust in order to achieve some personal gain or advantage for him or herself or for another person or

entity. The concept of corruption can also involve corrupt conduct by the entity, or a person purporting to act on behalf of and in the interests of the entity, in order to secure some form of improper advantage for the entity either directly or indirectly. (Standards Australia AS8001-2008, Fraud and Corruption Control). Fraud Suppliers Dishonest activity causing actual or potential financial loss to any person or entity including theft of moneys or other property by employees or persons external to the entity and where deception is used at the time, immediately before or immediately following the activity. This also includes the deliberate falsification, concealment, destruction or use of falsified documentation used or intended for use for a normal business purpose or the improper use of information or position for personal financial benefit. The theft of property belonging to an entity by a person or persons internal to the entity but where deception is not used is also considered fraud. (Standards Australia AS8001-2008, Fraud and Corruption Control). Includes current, new and potential persons or entities that supply goods or services to C&K. A supplier may be distinguished from a contractor, or subcontractor, who commonly add specialised input to deliverables. Zero tolerance The application of laws, policies and / or penalties without exception, to even minor infringements, in order to reinforce overall importance and to enhance deterrence. Risk Effect of uncertainty on objectives (from ISO 31000:2009) The concept of risk has three elements: The perception that something could happen. The likelihood of something happening. Bullying Repeated less favourable treatment of a person by another or others that may be considered unreasonable or inappropriate workplace behaviour. The behaviour can be physical, verbal or non-verbal. Discrimination May be direct or indirect, and involves: denying a person an opportunity or treating them less favourably because of their age, gender, gender identity, lawful sexual activity, relationship status, parental status, family responsibilities, pregnancy, breastfeeding, race, religion, impairment, political belief / activity, trade union activity, or association with someone with one or more of these attributes an action or policy that appears to treat everyone equally, having a discriminatory effect against people with particular attributes. Diversity Recognising and valuing the unique contribution people can make because of their individual background and different skills, experiences and perspectives. People differ not just on the basis of race and gender, but also other dimensions such as lifestyle, education, physical ability, age and family responsibility.
