CAL STATE EAST BAY BACHELORS PLUS EARLY PATHWAY MULTIPLE SUBJECT PROGRAM (FORMERLY THE BLENDED/FAST TRACK PROGRAM) LIBERAL STUDIES/MULTIPLE SUBJECT CREDENTIAL PROGRAM FALL 2015 Entry Dear Bachelors Plus Early Pathway to Multiple Subject (BPEPMS) Program Applicant: Cal State East Bay is now accepting applications for the Bachelors Plus Early Pathway Liberal Studies Degree/Multiple Subjects Credential Program for the Fall Quarter 2015. This program is designed to allow you to complete the academic courses for your Liberal Studies Bachelors Degree in addition to courses and student teaching for your Multiple Subject Teaching Credential in the junior and senior years at CSUEB. You may complete this program at either the Hayward campus or Concord campus. Courses are delivered in a variety of formats including online instruction. Below is the Application form for Provisional Admission to be considered for admission to the BPEPMS Program. The following are required: 1. Complete the BPEP Application Form, including writing a brief essay of no more than two pages that explains: a. Why you want to work with groups of children between the ages of 5-11? b. How your background and/or experience inform(s) your decision to pursue a license that authorizes you to work with socially, culturally, and economically diverse groups of children in the state of California? 2. Two letters of recommendation (from professionals who can verify your appropriateness for the program. i.e. instructor, counselor or employer). Ideally one or both have observed your classroom experience. 3. Prior experience verification form signed by a teacher or principal verifying experience in a K-8 classroom (minimum 45 hours) or TED 3001 or equivalent field experience course. 4. Minimum 2.9 GPA in academic coursework. 5. All program transfer requirements completed or to be completed by Summer 2015. 6. Submit transcripts of all college coursework to Prof. Nancy Thompson for departmental review. (We do not need official transcripts to perform this initial eligibility assessment; however, when you apply to the University, you must submit official transcripts.) 7. Apply to CSUEB at www.csumentor.edu and declare Liberal Studies as your major. You should be accustomed to taking a full academic load since your first quarter will require 16-20 quarter units (equivalent to 12 semester units). Working during the program is not advised, especially during the second year while you are student teaching. Applications will be accepted until a cohort of 30 qualified students has been selected.
