What is Garden Protect This policy meets the demands and needs of those who wish to insure against the cost of replacing garden plants and contents which are stolen or damaged. The Green Insurance Company does not make personal recommendations as to whether this policy suits individual circumstances. Contract of Insurance Garden Protect insurance is arranged by Business & Domestic Insurance Services with UK General Insurance Limited on behalf of Ageas Insurance Limited. Definitions Where we explain what a word means that word will appear highlighted in bold print and will have the same meaning wherever it is used in this policy. Administrator Cover is administered by Business & Domestic Administration Services, Trent Lodge, Stroud Road, Cirencester GL7 6JN. Telephone no: 0844 3755660 Consequential loss You are not covered for any other costs that are directly or indirectly caused by the event which led to your claim unless specifically stated in this policy. Covering letter Confirmation of cover detailing the limit of liability and premium. Garden Means shed, fencing, walls & gates (including decking), tools and machinery, garden furniture (including barbeque), statues & ornaments, plants, trees or shrubs and lawns normally kept outdoors but within the boundaries of your home. Home Your usual place of residence in the United Kingdom including its outbuildings at the address shown in the covering letter. Limit of liability The maximum amount that can be claimed under this policy as stated in the covering letter up to a total value of 1500 or 00 in any 12 month period. Period of insurance This insurance runs along with The Green Insurance Company policy and if the home insurance policy is cancelled/not renewed, all cover under this insurance will end. Premium Means the amount payable by either a single or monthly payment that you have agreed to pay The Green Insurance Company for insurance cover under this policy. We/our/us/insurer UK General Insurance Limited on behalf of Ageas Insurance Limited. You/your/insured The person named in the covering letter. Governing Law Unless we agree with you otherwise this policy will be subject to English Law and the jurisdiction of English courts. Cancellation We hope you are happy with the cover this policy provides. However, if after reading this policy, this insurance does not meet with your requirements, please call The Green Insurance Company on 0845 634 6183 or return it to The Green Insurance Company, 1 Masterton Way, Tannochside Business Park, Glasgow G71 5PU within 14 days of receipt and they will refund your premium. After this you may cancel the insurance cover at any time by calling or writing to The Green Insurance Company, however the full premium will be charged. The insurer and The Green Insurance Company is not bound to accept renewal of any insurance and may at any time cancel this insurance by sending 14 days notice to the insured at their last known address. Provided the premium has been paid in full (and no claims have been made) the insured will be entitled to a proportionate rebate of premium in respect of the unexpired period showing on the insurance. What is covered Loss of or damage to the garden by the following causes: 1. Fire, lightning, explosion or earthquake. 2. Riot. 3. Malicious damage. 4. Collision by vehicles or aircraft. 5. Storm or flood. 6. Theft or attempted theft. 7. Falling trees or branches, lamp posts or telegraph poles. 8. Accidental damage to items covered in the garden. What is not covered 1. Malicious damage caused by you or a member of your family, tenants or paying guests. 2. Damage by birds, animals or insects including domestic pets. 3. Frost damage. 4. Any claim within the first 30 days of the inception date of the policy. 5. The first of each and every claim. 6. Theft of tools or machinery that have not been secured in a locked building whilst not in use. 7. Damage to the garden caused by the escape of water or oil from any fixed water or heating installation or domestic appliance. 8. The intentional act or wilful neglect of the insured. 9. War, invasion, terrorism, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power confiscation, or nationalisation, civil commotion. 10. Consequential loss. 11. Any legal liability of whatsoever nature directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to, by or arising from ionising radiations or contamination by radioactivity from the combustion of nuclear fuel. 12. Damage caused by pressure waves of an aircraft or other aerial device travelling at sonic or supersonic speed. 13. Liability, which attaches by virtue of an agreement but which would not have attached if the agreement did not exist. 14. Legal Liability of any nature. Claims conditions Please read the following carefully as you need to meet with the conditions of this insurance in order to make a claim. 1. You must notify the Police as soon as you are aware if any property is lost, stolen or maliciously damaged. 2. You must report any claim to the administrator as soon as reasonably possible and provide all information and assistance which we may reasonably require. 3. If you claim for an item under shed, fencing, walls & gates (including decking), tools & machinery, garden furniture (including barbeque), statues & ornaments you will need to provide proof of the items value. 4. You must take all reasonable steps to recover any lost or stolen property and advise the administrator without unnecessary delay if the property is returned to you. 5. We will decide whether to repair or replace any item that is lost or damaged or, if it cannot be repaired or replaced, we will pay an amount equivalent to the value of the item at the date of loss or damage. 6. We will not pay for the cost of replacing any undamaged items which form part of a set or pair. Claims procedure You must report any claim to the administrator as soon as reasonably possible, please quote your name, address and Green Insurance Company Household policy number. You may contact the administrator Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 5.00pm on: Telephone: 08443 755660. Calls may be recorded for training and compliance purposes. General conditions 1. If you or anyone acting for you makes a claim under this policy knowing the claim to be false, we will not pay the claim and all cover under the policy will cease. 2. All tools and machinery insured under this policy shall be maintained in good condition and used only in accordance with the manufacturer s instructions. Complaints procedure It is our intention to give you the best possible service but if you do have any questions or concerns about this insurance or the handling of a claim you should in the first instance contact the Managing Director of Business & Domestic Insurance Services. Compensation Scheme Your insurer is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) which means that you may be entitled to compensation if they are unable to meet their obligation to you.
