Japanese Tosa Wolf dog Second: Dogs breeds banned to be kept in apartments and shared accommodation: That is according to the Circulation No. (812/02/03/34/22256) issued on 28/04/2007 by Public Health Services Department in Dubai Municipality, namely: 1. The first list (which includes the seven aforementioned breeds) 2. Rottweiler 3. Doberman 4. Shar pie 5. Any cross from list (1) or list (2)

Rottweiler Doberman Shar pie Any cross from list (1) or list (2) Reasons of ban: A. Maintain human safety There are more than 150 cases of dog bites and attack investigated by Veterinary Services Section in Dubai Municipality from 2007 to the end of 2010 Maintain safety of veterinarians and technicians working in Vet. Clinics, pet shops, kennel establishments.

Maintain the health and safety of the housemaids and other persons who have to deal with this kind of dogs without experience or knowledge of their danger. In a study carried by Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States from 1979 until 1998 there were over 238 deaths caused by dogs. In India, dog bites cause deaths of 20,000 people a year, due to the fact that more than 60% of the wounded persons are ignorant of the proper preventive measures that are supposed to do when exposed to a dog bite. B. Maintaining the safety of animals o Most of these breeds are used for wrestling and fighting among themselves, which is considered a violation of animal welfare legislation and laws. o Providing the proper space requirements for this kind of animals to express their natural behavior. o protecting the animals to be used as target for hitting them by arrows, or enjoying dogs wrestling, as our Prophet (pbuh) forbade us in so many traditions.

Who is responsible for the application of the ban? 1. Public and Private Veterinary Clinics Do not allow the registration and vaccination of these animals by vets. Notify the competent authorities if there are received any of these kinds. Razing the public awareness about the risks of these kinds of dogs. 2. Veterinary Control Authorities Monitoring the pet shops and pet kennels, and specialized exhibitions to verify the existence of such kinds of dogs Confiscation of all banned dogs, and take necessary actions against offenders. Apply regulations and laws relating to the acquisition of these kinds of dogs to all the Emirates. Enlighten and educate the owners of pet shops and kennels of these types of dogs, and their threat to the public health and safety. 3. The public In case of identification of any kind of prohibited dogs immediate reporting to DM. call centre (800900). Identify the regulations and laws related to the breeding of dogs. First aids in case of exposure to the dog bite: 1. See your doctor immediately when a wound or bite occurred by dog. 2. In the event of exposure to a small wound, it should be washed and cleaned well with running water and soap. 3. The wound should be wrapped with a clean and sterilized bandage. 4. In case of serious wound, deep cut or heavy bleeding, it should be pressed on wound place to stop bleeding, then bind it with a clean and sterilized bandage and see a doctor immediately. 5. In all cases, dog must be considered rabid one, so Veterinary Services Section must be informed through the DM. call center to take all required measures until the contrary is proved.
