01 INTRODUCTION VTNZ is the largest vehicle inspection & testing organisation in New Zealand with over 2.3 million customer visits annually through a nationwide network of 78 modern, dedicated stations. We are price leaders within our sector & attract a demographic that is predominantly aged 30 49 years & in employment. VTNZ offers its customers the following services: Warrant of Fitness Maintenance Check-Up & Oil Top-Up Pre-Purchase Inspection Driver Licensing (26 stations) Vehicle Registration VTNZ Roadside Assistance Certificate of Fitness & Vehicle Condition Assessment Road User Charges Entry Certification (for used imports or vehicles re-entering the fleet) 25%-30% of vehicles fail their inspection due to tyres, brakes & other safety related items such as lights, windscreen wipers & windscreen faults. VTNZ staff are specifically prohibited from recommending repairers or service providers & so customers look to in-station advertising to meet their needs in this area. Research shows that many customers also undertake basic maintenance of their vehicle (oil change, cut & polish etc) at the same time. The Opportunity VTNZ is uniquely placed to deliver to the advertiser the single largest demographic of pre-qualified motoring consumers in New Zealand. Every one of our customers is the motoring purchaser for that household or vehicle. The average Warrant of Fitness inspection takes about 20 minutes during which time the customers are actively looking to be entertained/occupied. Stations have customer reception & waiting areas providing a captive advertising audience during the inspection, an audience who is in the motoring head space while at the station. VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 01

02 DEMOGRAPHICS VTNZ stations attract over 2.3 million unique customer visits per annum for a range of vehicle related transactions. The largest driver of these transactions is the Warrant of Fitness. Colmar Brunton surveys identified who in a typical household is responsible for making the purchase decision for a Warrant of Fitness. It was identified that almost 70% of people responsible for purchasing the Warrant of Fitness are the Main Household Shopper. These people are defined as being the person who was the chief organiser in terms of ensuring that household bills are paid. VTNZ s residential customers are more likely to: Be aged between 30 to 49 Live in high socio areas with a household income > $70k p.a. In full time employment & had a child of school age or below An even split between male & female Those demographics & the captive audience environment are extremely attractive to all advertisers, motoring related or otherwise. Participation in VTNZ s in-station advertising will deliver: Over 2.3 million pre-qualified motoring consumers per annum, most of whom are looking to be entertained for approximately 20 minutes; The opportunity to leverage off the demand created from failed vehicles; The opportunity to Get your share of repairs. 25%-30% of VTNZ WoF & CoF inspections fail. This could mean exposure to an estimated $129m worth of parts & repair work per annum through our testing station network; Exposure to consumers responsible for vehicle maintenance; Professional presentation & messaging within the testing station. VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 02

03 THE ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY VTNZ has established a store-specific billboard & A4 poster advertising media to both enhance the customer experience & to cross-sell other products & services to customers while they re waiting for their vehicle inspection to be completed. The advertising package is available as either multi-store packages or as single station exposure for local advertisers. Those advertisers who have benefited from advertising with VTNZ s retail & commercial customer base have come from the follow sectors: Automotive repair services Automotive products & accessories Automotive glass Finance especially vehicle loans Household maintenance Insurance Utility companies The advertising package consists of in-station billboard &/or A4 posters with business card holders to deliver to advertisers the single biggest pre-qualified audience of automotive consumers in New Zealand. This is your opportunity to target customers at their time of need or whilst automotive & maintenance purchases are top-of-mind. This is also a highly unique opportunity to target a captive audience, an audience who is actively seeking to be entertained while they wait for their inspection to be completed. Details of the media contained in the package are detailed in the following pages. Advertising our company at VTNZ outlets is advantageous to us as our core business is repairing & servicing brakes. Shane Cannons General Manager Safe R Brakes VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 03

03 THE ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY 03.1 A4 Poster & Business Card Holder The smaller of our two formats, the A4 Poster & Business Card Holder consists of a standard A4 sheet which is inserted between two layers of a Perspex bi-fold holder. The holder has a box attached to the front at the bottom which is designed to hold business cards, discount vouchers, fridge magnets or any other similar sized promotional material. The holder is then hung from the Customer Information boards located in our waiting or reception areas. This is where our customers spend the majority of their time during the inspection process. The advantages of this format are: Having material such as business cards mean that your prospective customers can retain your brand to use when relevant to them. Having material that can be removed from the holder also means that customer interest can be tracked either by the number of items removed or by the number that are redeemed at your business if you have a special offer for VTNZ customers. You can easily change the poster during the term of advertising to reflect seasonal promotions or design changes. VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 04

03 THE ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY 03.2 Billboard Signage Billboards are the larger format available & most stations have railings fitted on the walls of the vehicle lanes which the billboards slide into, or wooden frames to mount them on. Our billboard spots are standardised at 1800mm wide by 600mm high & most customers use 5mm core flute (which is robust yet cost effective to produce). While being less interactive than the smaller format, these are well suited for brand awareness catching the customers eye as they enter & depart from the vehicle lanes. These are also visible from most of our waiting areas. Other advantages include: High impact & visibility, great for increasing awareness of your brand & key promotions Enlarged logos easily identifiable & recognisable More impact on business customers who tend to spend a longer time with their vehicle in the lane than in the waiting areas (good if your business is mostly with VTNZ s business customers) VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 05

04 PRODUCTION & DESIGN GUIDELINES There are some guidelines which must be adhered to before advertising material will be approved for display: Advertising must not detail Products & Services that are in competition to VTNZ (eg. no advertisement for WoF Inspections ). No Alcoholic Beverages/Foods, Brands or Outlets to be advertised including any Product or Service that may compromise the safety of drivers. No advertisements for Products & Services that can be used to evade the law (eg. Radar Detectors). No Products or Services that may be considered as sexual harassment or sexually offensive to be advertised. Advertising must not detail Products & Services that are in competition to & go against the sector exclusivity clauses of our premium In-Station Radio advertisers. The In-Station Radio advertisers may vary annually so please ask the In-Station Advertising Team for which sectors are currently represented in the key VTNZ stations. The support from the team at VTNZ Porirua has been great for our business. PJ Jones & Justine Holdsworth Owner/Managers Just Rust VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 06

04 PRODUCTION & DESIGN GUIDELINES 04.1 A4 & Business Card Format These should be designed portrait style not landscape to fit the vertical Perspex holders mounted on the Customer Information board. As customers tend to remove business cards, VTNZ staff will endeavour to notify the Advertiser when these are running low. However, it is in the interest of the Advertiser to periodically provide a supply of these for re-stocking either directly to the Station or, if advertising in many stations, via the VTNZ Support Office in Wellington (by request). As the business card may partially cover the bottom of the A4 poster you may want to have an image rather than your call-to-action in the bottom middle section (10cm wide x 6cm high; centred). 04.2 Billboard Mounting & Sizes Most stations are fitted with rails designed to house a 5mm thick board, or wooden frames for mounting. Standard size is 1800mm (w) x 600mm (h) mounted on to 5mm core-flute. 04.3 Supplying Material When supplying your material there is no additional cost for installation. Once the contract has been received & you have the material ready, you can drop it off to the Station Manager (a good chance to introduce yourself & your business) who will install your advertising material. If there are a number of spaces available & you would like one in particular then please feel free to point this out at the time. Advertising with VTNZ stations is a great means of targeting the repairs for motor vehicles. Matt Kew Business Manager Autotech Panelbeaters Ltd VTNZ In-Station Advertising pg 07
