The Interos Impact Case Study #1 U.S. Navy, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) How has working with Interos helped the U.S. Navy reduce its risk? Background The Navy has been working on the implementation of a global ERP system to modernize and streamline the way it does business, to reduce the number of older, more costly IT applications, to operate the business of the Navy the same way across its many commands, and to be able to more clearly report its stewardship of the taxpayers money. Challenge To ensure a smooth transition that will not threaten mission critical support to soldiers and sailors, NAVSUP required a team that has personal experience working with the agency s mission enabling them to understand the interdependencies impacting its processes. The Interos Impact Interos is reducing risk to NAVSUP through facilitating the analysis of each supply site throughout the world, preparing both the technical implementation team and the customer for what needs to occur. The Interos team is training users on the new system and troubleshooting any issues that arise. With deep expertise in military, and specifically Navy logistics, the Interos team is tasked with identifying objectives, systems, inventory and people that are involved in the process to help ensure the mission of support to the soldiers and sailors is never interrupted. Working closely with the Interos team, NAVSUP has successfully begun meeting the milestones and taking the steps needed to implement the ERP system throughout their global locations with minimal disruption to its core mission reducing risk to the agency, its soldiers and sailors. 4

The Interos Impact Case Study #2 Defense Logistics Agency How has working with Interos helped the Defense Logistics Agency reduce its risk? Background The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is implementing Enterprise Business Systems agency-wide and throughout customer sites as part of an SAP implementation. With the system s wide reach, it is critical to the agency s mission that the right products are delivered at the right places and the right time. The system will help to ensure that delivery occurs as planned. Agency Challenge To ensure a smooth transition with uninterrupted service, DLA required a team that had a full understanding of the agency and its customers to serve as a liaison to the Armed Services, provide implementation support and knowledge transfer to customer sites, facilitate the implementation of a new forecasting tool, and support the consolidation of procurement processes. The Interos Impact Interos seasoned team helps reduce risk to the DLA through supporting three areas of this SAP implementation: (1) modeling and forecasting to ensure the right product is at the right place at the right time; (2) implementation support at customer sites, including information transfer meetings and onsite training, and configuring the procurement system that will manage and streamline ordering processes; and (3) serving as a liaison to Armed Services, Interos is facilitating the handoff of extensive procurement activities to the DLA to ensure uninterrupted service. DLA has reduced risk to its core mission through engaging Interos high level team to support its customer sites through a complex systems implementation and through leveraging modeling and simulation solutions to help the agency determine how to best ensure the right products are delivered to the right places at the right time. 5

The Interos Impact Case Study #3 Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) How has working with Interos helped the Center for Disease Control & Prevention reduce its risk? Background The CDC Directorate Strategic National Stockpile (DSNS) needed to review the modernization requirement of their Oracle based ERP system to provide greater visibility at a least cost. Their business goals are to become more agile, flexible, and responsive in providing medical supplies and equipment in support of natural or manmade events. Agency Challenge A review of the DSNS ERP technical and functional requirements was requested, to assess the way forward for a modernization effort. A review of the business requirements within warehouse operations, inventory management, and financial analysis revealed a system that essentially captures inventory positions with considerable manual inputs and extensive manual workarounds. Interos Provided the technological assessment, that when implemented, all of the program s high level business functions and processes will be positively impacted, including; planning, financials, reporting, inventory management, maintenance of stock, inventory visibility and distribution for response efforts. The analytics recommendation will allow DSNS leaders and managers to make the timely decisions with near real-time data necessary to ensure the SNS meets its missions. CDC is provided the technology assessment to modernize their Strategic National Stockpile and streamline their distribution network dispersed across five geographic distribution centers and over 1,000 regional storage sites. 6

The Interos Impact Case Study #4 U.S. Customs and Border Protection How has working with Interos helped the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reduce its risk? Background CBP needed a new inventory system that would give the home office visibility into available inventory and automate the support of their 24-hour replacement requirement to their customer base. A key component was to ensure the method created financial accountability of the inventory and was done in a secure manner. Challenge The organization supporting CBP s 24-hour replacement requirement was strong in their engineering capabilities. They needed logistics support to fully meet the requirements as well as automation techniques to ensure the solution was scalable, sustainable, and resilient. The Interos Impact By bringing Interos expertise in commercial technology and inventory management best practices, they were able to address CBP s supply chain risk, cost and performance objectives. Interos was able to bring 15 times more inventory into as single building vs. the expenditure of 6 additional leases that were being evaluated. CBP achieved reduced risk to their core mission through the Interos team s knowledge commercial best practices in inventory management processes and systems. 7
