PLAINVIEW-OLD BETHPAGE CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 16 Washington Avenue, Plainview, New York 1183 www.pob.k12.ny.us To the Parents of Plainview-Old Bethpage Students: During the 29-21 school year it had become very apparent that many of the issues that we were dealing with in school involved, or were initiated by, our students online activities. As a department, we felt the need to assess our students online life. To accomplish this, an Internet Safety Survey was developed. It is important for clarification purposes to highlight the following: This survey was not scientifically designed. It was developed to gather information only. The results offer a snapshot of what our students activities were at the time. In this rapidly changing world, we realize that this is not a completely inclusive survey. The survey consisted of two parts. A multiple-choice section and a short-answer section. In this packet we have included a sampling of short responses from each grade level. The data enclosed represents responses from student in both Mattlin and P-OB Middle Schools. The results are reported by grade level. Note these are last year s grade levels. Although all responses are included in this packet, we have highlighted the areas that we found to be our most significant learnings. Those responses are represented in graph form. Our hope is that this information encourages our community to engage in an ongoing dialog and to work together to keep our children safe in our changing world.
