TRINITY EPISCOPAL PRESCHOOL FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM Introduction Eligibility Trinity Episcopal Preschool Mission Statement Philosophy INTRODUCTION Trinity Episcopal Preschool Supplementary Financial Aid Form Waiver Request Form The Financial Aid Program of Trinity Episcopal Preschool is designed for well-qualified students in all age groups whose families cannot fully afford an independent school education without financial assistance. All of the information you should need on financial aid is available here. You may begin to apply for financial aid for 2014-2015, February 1, 2014. Please contact the Trinity Episcopal Preschool Director for instructions. To be eligible for consideration for financial aid at Trinity, you must complete your application by February 15th for current Trinity Preschool families and by March 1st for families new to Trinity Episcopal Preschool who are currently in the admissions application process. Decisions about financial aid for current Trinity Episcopal Preschool families will be mailed by Mid March. Financial Aid award letters for families new to Trinity Episcopal Preschool will be mailed with your acceptance letter and contract so that you will have the information you need to make your school choice by the April 1 deadline. ELIGIBILITY You may apply for financial aid starting on February 1st, as described below. To be eligible for consideration for financial aid at Trinity Episcopal Preschool, you must complete your application and mail all supporting documents to the Trinity Episcopal Preschool Director by March 1stof the same year. We will communicate decisions about financial aid the first week of April 2014. All aid is awarded on a yearly basis and must be reapplied for each following school year. Trinity Episcopal Preschool Financial Aid is not a scholarship and is available to all entering and current students and families. Our Financial Aid is given on the basis of financial need and is decided on by the Trinity Episcopal Preschool Board of Directors. All families who apply for financial assistance through Trinity Episcopal Preschool s Outreach program will be considered for both full and partial aid. Families must complete a full application and provide all required financial information to be considered for aid. TRINITY EPISCOPAL PRESCHOOL S MISSION STATEMENT Trinity Episcopal Preschool is a preschool that strives to create an atmosphere where each child can develop a love of God, self-worth, and respect for all others. We seek to create a strong educational foundation through nurturing each child s sense of wonder, instilling a love of learning and building a Christ-centered community of educators, parents, and children.

FINANCIAL AID PHILOSOPHY Trinity Episcopal Preschool has always recognized that there were qualified students who lacked the financial resources to pay for tuition. The School knew that students would benefit from a Trinity Episcopal Preschool education and the School would be enriched by their participation in school life. Today, the money for Trinity Episcopal Preschool s financial aid program comes from income from our tuition, gifts to the School, and the School s Annual Fund. We seek students who demonstrate a motivation for learning, appropriate social and emotional development, and whose diverse talents, interests, and personal characteristics enhance our community. We seek families who support their children and the mission of the School. Families who do not keep the School's expectations risk losing their financial aid. Trinity Preschool recognizes that choosing an independent school is a major financial decision for families. For that reason the School has increased its financial aid dramatically over recent years. Since financial aid awards do not have to be repaid, it helps to bridge the gap between what a family can afford and the cost of their child s education. We encourage families to apply for financial aid to determine what they are qualified to receive and to help make a Trinity Episcopal Preschool education affordable. Once a family receives financial assistance, they must reapply each year to ensure similar levels of financial aid will be provided and that the family s financial position does not materially change. While the School attempts to be equitable, the financial aid committee must consider choices made by families in the acquisition of homes and cars as well as extras such as clubs and vacations. It is the responsibility of the Financial Aid Committee to differentiate between luxury and necessity. We must consider our current students financial needs, enrollment requirements and the number of students receiving assistance in a particular grade or division. Consequently, some students will be accepted to Trinity Preschool and we will not have the funding necessary to meet their demonstrated need, placing them on our wait list. CONFIDENTIALITY The Financial Aid Committee maintains strict confidentiality over financial aid files. Faculty and students are not informed of financial aid decisions. The School trusts that the family will keep the same discretion regarding awards and decisions.

Father s Signature/ Date/ Email Address Mother s Signature/ Date/ Email Address WAIVER REQUEST FORM For Both Parents Supporting a Trinity Episcopal Preschool Education: The School s philosophy is that divorced, separated, or never married parents retain the obligation to contribute to the education of their children, and Trinity Episcopal Preschool cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses. Therefore, both natural parents and their spouses must provide the financial information requested each year, whether or not there is a legal agreement between them to the contrary. It would be unfair for Trinity Preschool to subsidize a child s education if a parent has resources but is unwilling to contribute to a child s tuition. The School reserves the right to contact the parent directly to clarify reasons for non-disclosure or unwillingness to contribute. We will consider the assets of a stepparent, always bearing in mind a stepparent s obligation to his/her own natural children. If all family information is not available at the time the application is evaluated, the School may have to make an arbitrary assessment of financial need that could result in a lesser award or no award at all.
