Information of the department The Department of Information Science was started in the year 2000 with the main objective of creating skilled man power in the field of Information Technology. Over the years the department has established itself as an excellent center and enjoy high ranking among among the best. The department has faculty members with outstanding academic records. Most of the faculty members have gained experience at well known universities in Asia, Europe & USA. The department offers four years undergarduate program in INformation science & two years master program in Software Engineering. One of the principle aim of the department is to involve in inter-disciplinary collaborative research and create solutions that will have immense impact for the future. The faculty of Information Science & Engineering department have earned very good appreciation from the students and among the technical community. The departmenton has collaboration with NOKIA university relation in Finland and supports wide varities of activities in mobile innovation filed. The department is all set to establish a new research facility in the filed of Computational Biology whose aim is to innovate solutions on critical problems at the level of proteins & genes that lead to detection of diseases by making use of efficient machine learning procedures In order to provide non curricular activities, the department has set up three clubs 1. Natures Club 2. Technical Club 3. Social Club These clubs will provide platforms for the students & staff to explore the talents and provide platforms for recreation. The department aims to provide multidimensional growth for every students admitted to the programs offered. Academic programs The Department offers the following acedemic programs: Course-work oriented programs 4-year B.E program 2-year M.Tech program

Research programs Ph.D. program: in computer science & Engineering under JSS Research Foundation, Mysore Course Oriented Programs BE program: The BE program is a four-year course oriented undergraduate program. The course work is spread accross all the 8 semesters. The courses include a set of core courses offered by the department, some free electives. Each batch of students max of 4 and min of 2 per batch must start working towards a project in the seventh semester and finally complete the projects towards the fulfillment of the degree requirements. M.Tech. program: The M.Tech. program is a two-year course oriented graduate program. The student has to take a set of core courses and a set of electives. The course work is spread accross the first two semesters with an option of taking two electives in the first and second semesters. This is followed by an industrial training in the third semester and start of an individual project in the fourth semester in which the student can take up a project of his or her interest, supervised by a faculty member.
