SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW The Andy Stone Scholarship was set up by Region III to honor the dedication and commitment of Andy Stone, former Region III Director. Andy passed away suddenly in 1998. Any active member of Region III may apply for the scholarship as per the guidelines listed below. Andy Stone Scholarship 1. PERPETUAL: Funds will be invested and open for continued contributions. 2. ELIGIBILITY: a. No member of a State or Regional staff is eligible. b. Is available for all registered youth players, coaches and/or referees. c. Will be judged on: - Years and depth of involvement - Academics - Needs - Citizenship - Extra curricular activities 3. AMOUNT: a. Two $1,500.00 Scholarships, (one boy and one girl), will be granted for one year with two payments of $1,000.00 and $500.00. The second payment will be granted upon receipt of proof of a C average for the first grading period. Documents should be sent to the Regional Office. The Regional Director and the State Association will coordinate the method of payment. 4. SCHOLARSHIP ROTATION: The scholarship will be offered to the states of Region III, one state at a time, beginning with Mississippi, Andy s home state in 1999, and rotate alphabetically as they appear in the US Youth Soccer telephone directory. 5. SELECTION: The State Association will determine the winner of the scholarship based on the attached application form. The name of the winner and a copy of his/her application must be received by the Regional Office no later than May 1st. 6. PRESENTATION: The Regional Director will coordinate with the State Association to determine the time and place for the presentation of the award.
