25 February 2014 Dear Parents, Student Travel Insurance School Sanctioned Trips The school has secured blanket travel insurance for students travelling interstate and overseas on school sanctioned trips. This will alleviate the need for parents to arrange their own private insurance for such trips. A small charge will be added to your son s trip to cover the cost ($25 per student for interstate travel per trip and $35 per student for overseas travel per trip). Parents are also encouraged to seek their own professional advice in relation to travel insurance. Should this product not be suitable for your son, please arrange your own individual policy. I have detailed below the basic cover of the policy and a full Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) can be obtained from the school should you wish to have an electronic copy. There are some exclusions with the policy and these include: Travel within Tasmania is NOT covered Does NOT cover any injury sustained while on a sporting trip i.e. (football, cricket, rugby tours etc.). Parents should have their own private health insurance to cover their son s should such an incident occur International trips maximum medical insurance allowable is $50,000 Maximum the school can claim for cancellations is $50,000 therefore if 60 boys are travelling at a cost of $1,000 per student and the flights are cancelled, then the school will only receive $50,000 compensation. Parents would receive a shortfall in refunds.
