delawarecharitychallenge.com Saturday, May 2, 2015 Lums Pond State Park 2015 DELAWARE CHARITY CHALLENGE Race Registration information Packet #CHALLENGEDE We look forward to having your team compete in the First Annual Delaware Charity Challenge. This packet contains information about the races and race registration process. For additional information, visit our website at delawarecharitychallenge.com or email charlie@challengede.com or call 302 566 8008. What is the Delaware Charity Challenge? The Delaware Charity Challenge is this region's first charity race to raise event of its kind. This fun and unique team based fundraising event allows for teams and charities to race to raise both awareness and monies for their cause. The First Annual Delaware Charity Challenge will take place Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Lums Pond in Bear, Delaware. The Charities that Benefit from the Delaware Charity Challenge Unlike races where one charity may be the focus of the event, Delaware Charity Challenge is an opportunity for any and all participating charities because teams can choose whatever nonprofit organization they would like to be the beneficiary for their raising and racing efforts. Nonprofits are also encouraged to build and promote their own teams in the Delaware Charity Challenge. Teams will need four or more members to qualify to win the team races at the Delaware Charity Challenge. Most of the sponsorships permit you to form one or more teams and designate a different charity with each team you form. How Charities Will Benefit from the Delaware Charity Challenge Teams will be the primary vehicle through which the charities will be able to raise money for and awareness of their cause. From January 1, 2015 to May 1, 2015, teams will race to raise the most money for their charity by promoting their teams and raising money through their social networks, friends, and families through the fundraising portion of the Delaware Charity Challenge. The money that is donated to the charities through the teams goes directly to the charities. On the day of the Delaware Charity Challenge itself, teams will race to win for their charities.
Charities Can Win Additional Prize Money through the Delaware Charity Challenge In addition to the money the charities raise from their teams, charities can win additional awards from the Delaware Charity Challenge prize pool. The prize pool will be generated from a portion of the race registrations and race sponsorships. For the fundraising challenge (January 1, 2015 to May 1, 2015), the top three charities that raise the most money will win 60% of the prize pool. The remaining money from the prize pool will be distributed among the charities of the teams that win the various races at the Delaware Charity Challenge. Events at the Delaware Charity Challenge On Saturday, May 2, 2015, there will be several races that morning. Particularly, there will be a competitive women's team 5K race, a competitive men's team 5K race, a competitive co ed team 5K race, and a fun 5K run/walk. There will also be an event called the Adventure Challenge Relay race, where a team of at least five members will compete in multiple events, including mountain biking, running, canoeing, ziplining, and a puzzle challenge. The winning team of each of these races will win the remaining 40% of the prize pool. Team Size For teams to score in the competitive team races (Men's 5K Team Race, Women's 5K Team Race, Co ed 5K Team Race), they need at least four members and at most seven members. There is no cap to team size in the Fun 5K Team Run/Walk, although if you have multiple charities you would like to raise money for, you may want to consider splitting larger teams into smaller ones. Each team can only designate one beneficiary. Registration & Registration Cost Teams can register online and the person registering the team will be defaulted as team captain. The rest of the team members will also need to individually complete the registration process because each person must sign the waiver form to complete registration for whatever race you are competing in. For the Adventure Challenge Relay, team members who compete in the canoe and zipline portions of the challenge will need to sign separate waivers the day of the race. Your registration payment covers your race registration cost, cotton race t shirt, and parking for up to three cars at Lums Pond on Saturday, May 2, 2015. We strongly encourage teams to carpool that morning. Additional Information More information can be found online at delawarecharitychallenge.com. You can also follow us on Twitter (@challengede) or on Facebook (facebook.com/decharitychallenge). All sponsors will be followed, liked, and promoted by Delaware Charity Challenge social media with additional online and social media messaging commensurate with your sponsorship level.
