For the Joint MAOB/Forensic Psychology programs in Fresno, please complete separate applications for each program. APPLICATION DEADLINES The priority application deadline is March 1 for the Fall semester and October 1 for the Spring semester. Applications submitted after the priority deadlines are welcome, and will be considered on a space available basis. These are postmark deadlines; deadlines that fall on a postal holiday will be observed the following postal business day. Applications must be complete in order to be considered for admission. Once the program receives your complete application, it is read by an admissions committee. All finalists are interviewed, and most programs require an in-person interview. Telephone interviews may be approved for those applicants for whom travel to the interview site is not feasible. Application Components To complete your application, read all information in this packet, including Admissions Policies and Admissions Requirements, complete the required forms, and return them by the deadline to: Alliant International University Admissions Processing Center 10455 Pomerado Road San Diego, CA 92131 1. Form A and B: Application and Program Supplement Required for all applicants. See forms on pages 7 and 9. 2. Non-refundable Application Fee Required for all applicants. $70 for Doctoral, $55 for Master s applicants. Please make your check or money order payable to Alliant International University. A limited number of application and interview fee waivers are available to on-time applicants with the greatest demonstrated need. If you would like to request a fee waiver, you must submit your request in writing with an explanation of your current financial circumstances and your prior year Federal Income Tax Form 1040, if one was filed. Please enclose these documents with your application materials. If you do not submit both the written statement of fee waiver request and the documentation, you will not be considered for a fee waiver. 3. Transcripts Required for all applicants. Transcripts must be submitted from each institution attended, even if transfer units appear on another document. If you attend(ed) an institution with pass/fail grades you should request that the registrar attach any accompanying narrative evaluations. The transcripts are for Alliant International University and are submitted as part of your application material. You must send sealed official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work, including part-time and summer sessions, regardless of the dates the work was completed. It is your responsibility to see that all transcripts reach the Admissions Processing Center by the appropriate application deadline. In order to meet the deadline it is often necessary to send transcripts on which fall semester grades have not yet been posted. If this is the case, supplementary transcripts should be provided as soon as possible. In cases where registrars are backed up with transcript requests or it is very near the application deadline, applicants should submit photocopies of transcripts in the interim. Without a complete set of transcripts, your application will be considered incomplete. 2

*For international applicants and those who received bachelor s degrees and/or master s degrees from higher education institutions outside the United States, please see page 6 for further instructions. 4. Form E: GPA Exemption Petition Required only if any GPA is under 3.0. Alliant International University requires that applicants have an undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. If your undergraduate or graduate (if applicable) GPA is below 3.0, you must submit a GPA exemption petition requesting an exemption from this academic requirement. Use the GPA exemption petition Form E on page 11. The form allows you to provide a statement of exception or submit additional material that would document your ability to perform in an intensive academic environment. 5. Resume/Curriculum Vita Required for all applicants. Include a current resume or curriculum vita with your application materials. Describe each position you have held including the name of the organization, job title, work responsibilities and dates of employment. 6. Essay Required for all applicants. The essay is an extremely important part of the application. See page 5 for essay instructions. 7. Course Descriptions Course descriptions are required in the following two instances: 1. If the courses you are using to meet entry pre-requisites are titled differently from program requirements, you must submit course descriptions. Appropriate documentation includes copies of course descriptions, outlines or syllabi. This information should be submitted when you submit your application material. For more information on this requirement, see page 5. 2. If you are petitioning to receive Credit for Previous Graduate Work, you must submit a detailed coursework portfolio which includes course outlines, syllabi or letters from instructors describing specific course content for all relevant graduate courses completed. If coursework was taken at more than one institution, indicate the institution where each course was taken. For more information on Credit for Previous Graduate Work, see page 6. All coursework used to fulfill pre-requisites for any program must have been completed prior to beginning the program. All coursework must have been taken at fully accredited institutions. 8. Form F: TOEFL, TWE The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), including the Test of Written English (TWE), is required for non-native speakers. Students whose native language is not English or who have not earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited U.S. higher education institution are required to show English proficiency by taking the TOEFL. Alliant/CSPP requires a minimum score of 80 or higher on the Internet-based TOEFL, 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, 550 on the paper-based TOEFL and 5 or higher on the TWE. Please contact TOEFL directly to request an official score report; Alliant s TOEFL code is 4039. Alliant/CSPP will accept IELTS scores of 6.0 or above, or another approved test of English proficiency with scores equivalent to the TOEFL scores as listed above. Please note that academic performance at Alliant may reveal the necessity for further English language study by any student. The University reserves the right to make the final determination of a student s English proficiency in all cases. 9. Form G: Recommendation Forms Two are required for all applicants. It is your responsibility to see that the completed recommendation forms arrive by the application deadline. Give the people you ve chosen as recommenders the opportunity to begin working on them as soon as you make the decision to apply. All recommendations should be submitted on Alliant International University forms. We are interested in quantified information in the areas we ask about on the recommendation forms; therefore generic information will not be as supportive of your application as will our forms. There is a copy of Form G in the back of this application packet on pages 13-14; please make additional copies as necessary. The recommendations should be from references familiar with your work, your academic abilities, or your potential for scholarship and professional accomplishment. If you have been out of school for several years, please feel free to submit recommendations from persons who are familiar with you on any level of professional involvement. 10. Dual and Joint Programs Applicants to all dual and joint programs must meet the requirements for each program. For information about requirements for all Alliant programs, visit www.alliant.edu. Alliant s Continuing Education Division offers some of the CSPP prerequisite courses in an online format. Contact the admissions office or the CE website (www.ce-psychology.com) for full details. 3

Alliant International University Offices and Contacts Please consult the Alliant International University Catalog for more detailed information regarding the University and its policies and procedures (see www.alliant.edu). If you have any questions about the admissions process, contact the Admissions Processing Center. Admissions Processing Center 10455 Pomerado Road San Diego, CA 92131 866-U-ALLIANT (toll-free in USA) fax: 858-635-4555 admissions@alliant.edu Financial Aid Questions? Email: finaid@alliant.edu or call 1-866-U-ALLIANT Alliant International University Admissions Policies Review Process Applications and supporting documents are reviewed by the Admissions Processing Center for completeness and then sent to the program for review. The designated faculty member or review committee examines all applications and decides which of those candidates who meet the academic entry requirements should be interviewed. Final admissions decisions are made after the results of the interviews have been reviewed. Incomplete Applications Alliant International University does not guarantee review of applications which are incomplete or submitted after priority application deadlines, and fees are not refunded under these circumstances. Applying to More than One Location Multi-location applications within a specialty are made on one form. You may apply to one degree program at multiple campuses ranked by location preference; you may not apply to more than one degree program in the same year unless you are not accepted at your first choice program. Use only one application form. A multilocation applicant is considered for admission at the locations in the order of preference indicated on the application form. An applicant not admitted to a higher-choice location is then considered for the next choice location, and so on. A multi-location applicant admitted to one location is not considered for admission by subsequent, lower-choice locations. A multi-location applicant may at any time forfeit consideration at one location and have the application forwarded to the next lower choice. However, once having forfeited consideration at a location, the applicant cannot be reconsidered there in the same year for that specific program. Reapplication If you have applied to Alliant International University (or CSPP or USIU) in a prior year you must submit a new application form, fees and essay. Transcripts, course descriptions and letters of recommendation are usually kept on file for one year and thus need not be resubmitted if you are applying within one year after submitting a previous application. However, transcripts of any additional coursework must be sent to us, and since it is our policy to destroy recommendations for enrolling students, under some circumstances this material is not available in a subsequent year. If you are a reapplicant, you are considered for admission on the basis of your new application. Applicants may attempt to gain admission to Alliant three times. They may apply in three separate years, to three separate specialties or degree programs, or a combination. Alliant will not accept further applications from individuals who fail to gain admittance after three attempts. Notification of Decisions The reasons for a program s decision to decline admission are not shared with the applicant. The California School of Professional Psychology receives many more applications that meet our basic requirements than there are places available. If you are admitted while continuing graduate or undergraduate coursework, you are expected to maintain the standard of academic performance on which your admission is based until enrollment; failure to do so may void the Acceptance Agreement. Therefore, if you are admitted you must submit transcripts of all work completed between acceptance and enrollment prior to fall registration. Alliant adheres to a resolution adopted by the Council of Graduate Schools and supported by APA, COGDOP and NCSPP protecting applicants against the need to make premature acceptance decisions. Acceptance and Matriculation Deposit Admitted applicants to Alliant must sign and return the Acceptance Agreement and submit a new student deposit to hold a place in the class. This fee is $600 for doctoral students and $300 for master s. The Acceptance Agreement and deposit are due two weeks after the date of the letter of notification. If a response is not received by the date specified, the place will be offered to another applicant. Students who decide not to accept an offer of admission from a program are urged to notify the campus admissions office in writing as soon as possible so that their places may be offered to other applicants. International Students Alliant International University welcomes international applicants whose academic work and English proficiency is of the highest level. All international students must carry a full course load in their program in order to qualify for an I-20 certification. All international students must submit the documents described under the Admissions Requirements section of this application on page 6. 4

Non-Degree Study Students registered in non-degree (or non-matriculated) status may not earn an Alliant International University degree. Students must register on a space-available basis, and may not apply more than nine units of non-degree status Alliant International University academic work toward an Alliant International University degree. Some courses are not available on a non-degree basis. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, only enrolled students, not non-matriculated applicants, have access to academic records including the application material on file at Alliant International University. All documents presented for admission or evaluation of credit become the property of Alliant International University and may not be returned to the applicants. Therefore, please keep copies of all the information you submit to us. Most material is kept on file for one year; it is not kept indefinitely. Admissions Requirements 1. Undergraduate Degree You must hold or be eligible for an earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution prior to entry. 2. General Academic Ability You must have a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, both undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) or submit a Grade Point Average Exemption Petition (see page 11). Both undergraduate and graduate work will be evaluated. 3. Preparation in Psychology and Pre-requisites Applicants to the Consulting Psychology, Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Organizational Psychology programs must have completed one of these three options prior to matriculation: Option #1: Earned a baccalaureate degree with a major in psychology or behavioral science. Option #2: If the baccalaureate degree is not in psychology or behavioral science, you must have completed coursework in the following areas with a grade of "B" or better: a) Introductory Statistics (may be taken outside the psychology department) b) Two undergraduate or graduate courses in the behavioral sciences or human resources Option #3: Earned a score in the 80th percentile or better on the GRE Psychology Subtest. The admissions office must be notified in writing if scores are being submitted for this purpose. Official scores should be sent directly to Alliant International University from ETS and should arrive by the priority application deadline. The preparation in psychology and pre-requisite courses listed above are not required for applicants to the Organizational Behavior MA program or the Organization Development PsyD program. Applicants to the Organization Development PsyD program must have completed one of these two options prior to matriculation: Option #1: Earned a master s degree in organization behavior, organization development, business, management, or a related field. Option #2: If the master s degree is not in a related field, demonstrate 10 or more years of significantly related work experience. 4. Personal and Non-Academic Factors Non-academic factors are evaluated using: a) Essay (see essay instructions below) b) Professional experience (resume required) c) Two letters of recommendation d) An interview in person or by telephone (required for finalists) Essay Instructions Applicants to all organizational psychology programs must submit an essay along with the application and supplementary materials. Please prepare a Statement of Purpose of 6-7 typed double-spaced pages that addresses the following, using separate sections for each part. Put your name and page number at the top of each page. A. Describe your career objectives, including your reasons for wanting to undertake studies in the particular program you have selected (i.e., the specific PhD, PsyD, or master s program to which you are applying). Please also discuss why you are attracted to studying in the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. B. Write a brief autobiographical sketch, highlighting those experiences most relevant to your interest in organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or organization development. C. Although we recognize that your specific areas of study may change over the course of your training, in responding to part C, please describe a research or applied organizational problem that you might like to explore in your studies at Alliant International University. Please be as specific as possible. This essay should demonstrate your knowledge of organizational psychology or organizational behavior and how multi-cultural and/or international issues play a role in the project or research you describe. Also, as relevant, please demonstrate in this section your knowledge of contemporary issues and current research in the field. Use the essay to show your understanding of research methods, the application of theory and scholarship to applied problems, and your ability to integrate the professional literature with your own perspectives on the issues. Interviews Finalists for admission to all programs are required to be interviewed. The program prefers an in-person interview. Telephone interviews may be approved for those applicants for whom travel to an interview site is not feasible. The cost of travel and accommodations related to the interview is borne by the applicant. Interview formats may vary by program and campus. Some programs may require applicants to write a brief essay as part of the interview process. 5

Credit for Previous Graduate Work Applicants to CSPP graduate programs may be eligible to receive credit for previous graduate work. These credits must be completed with a grade of a B or better from a regionally accredited institution within the past seven years. A maximum of 6 semester units of graduate coursework can be accepted into a master s program of 40 semester hours or less and a maximum of 9 semester units in an academic program of 41 semester units or more. A maximum of 30 semester units can be accepted into a doctoral program. All applicants must meet the graduate level entry requirements for the program of application before they will be reviewed for transfer credit. More information relating to the total allowable course units, and courses that may be waived, may be obtained from the admissions office, the program office or an academic advisor. Additional Requirements for International Students You must submit official, translated transcripts and results from an educational credential evaluation service agency. The evaluation must include degree equivalency to a 4 year bachelor s degree from an accredited university, US semester credit and grade equivalent for each course, and US grade point average. Any master s level courses and/or degrees should also be included in the evaluation. To locate an agency, go to www.naces.org. English proficiency must be evidenced by TOEFL and TWE results (see page 3). Copy of passport. Alliant International Student Financial Certification Form. This form must be completed and submitted if you are not a US citizen and have not been classified by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services as a permanent resident. The Alliant Admissions and Financial Aid Offices will furnish this form upon request. In addition, you must provide an original and most current bank statement showing the required US funds for studying at Alliant. Students accompanied by other family members must certify additional US funds per year for each dependent. Alliant International University will not issue the I-20 Certification of Eligibility until this certification has been submitted. Other Organizational Psychology Program Information and Reminders Dual and Joint Programs Applicants to the dual programs should ensure they have read all material and understand the requirements of both programs. Applicants to the Dual Clinical Psychology/Industrial-Organizational Psychology PhD program in San Diego and the Joint MAOB/Clinical Psychology PhD or PsyD programs in Fresno should use the Clinical Psychology application packet to apply, read all the material on the programs, and understand the commitments required by the dual programs. Full-time/Part-time Status Students enrolled during the fall and spring semesters are considered to be full-time if they are enrolled in 8 or more units per term. Those enrolled in a summer session are considered to be fulltime if they are taking 5 or more units per term. Students taking less than these amounts are considered part-time. Full-time status is required in two instances: 1) To be eligible to receive Alliant International University Scholarships and Federal Perkins Loans 2) To be eligible to attend on a student visa. International students should work closely with Alliant International University staff to make sure they are enrolled for the requisite number of units in order to meet Department of Immigration requirements. The master s program in organization behavior is available on an accelerated basis which may decrease the time to complete the program by up to a year. Requests for accelerated programs should be negotiated with the program director. 6
