Research Alumni Network "MaRA" Established in May 2014 Funded by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Vision: To stay in touch with international researches who have spend a stay as staff member, professor or visiting scholar at the University of Mannheim. Objectives of MaRA: Continuation of research collaborations between Research Alumni and their former hosts at the University of Mannheim. Visualizing the University of Mannheim as a hub for the network of interpersonal research relations within the global scientific community. Facilitate contact between young researchs at the University of Mannheim and international Alumni. For these purposes, MaRA offers certain networking and reunion measures: 1. Mannheim Research Alumni Map (MaRA Map) 2. Reunion Grants: MaRA Research Visits and MaRA Research Stays 3. Social MaRA - we offer social networks platforms on LinkedIN and Alumniportal Deutschland (DAAD).
Mannheim Research Alumni Map (MaRA Map) The MaRA Map will be an easy-to use tool to visualize the University of Mannheim research hub and all its Alumni on an interactive world map.
Mannheim Research Alumni Map (MaRA Map) How does it work? By zooming in a country or region, all Alumni who live there will be visualized with a pin. Clicking on the pin, a short profile will unfold. This profile will enable users to seethe basic info at a glance The data will be updated regularly by the Welcome Center.
Reunion Grants: MaRA Research Visits and Stays MaRA Research Visit: Short-time visits (up to 2 weeks) Coverage of travel and living expenses Aim: Enable Research Alumni to reunite with their Mannheim hosts to continue a common project or to start a new collaboration. MaRA Research Stay Three-month research stay at the University of Mannheim, preferably during the semester break Coverage of travel and fellowship of 1,500.00 per month. Aim: Enable Research Alumni to continue working on a common research project Flexibility: The reunion grants are also transferable from a MaRA to a colleague or young researcher.
Social MaRA - LinkedIN and Alumniportal Deutschland Services for alumni provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) DAAD Alumni Program: The DAAD helps Germany's universities maintain contacts and provides continuing training for its foreign alumni via the Alumni Program, which aims to support and create bonds with alumni from abroad. DAAD Alumniportal: www.alumniportal-deutschland.org Companies, universities, international cooperation organizations can find alumni, experts, and professionals here. They can offer jobs, networks and can present themselves. To cross-link the Mannheim Research Alumni a thematic network will be established within the DAAD Alumniportal. All MaRA members will be asked to join in the portal and the thematic network.
