Is a personal loan right for you? A personal loan pays for the things you need today and you have up to five years to pay us back. You can use it to upgrade a car, buy things for your home, take a long awaited trip or simplify your finances by consolidating your debts. A great way to tidy up your debts Pay off your debts with a personal loan from Westpac. You could save on interest and wipe out the hassle of trying to keep track of a whole lot of repayments for debts such as store cards or things you ve bought on hire purchase any other personal loans credit cards balances things you ve bought interest-free, that are going to roll onto a high interest rate. Can you get a loan? You might be able to get a personal loan if you: are over 18 and have a regular income can afford to pay about 25 a month for every 1,000 you borrow over five years have permanent residency status and live in New Zealand. Other lending criteria also applies, so please talk with us to find out more. How much can you afford? Here s a chart to help you work out what your loan repayments would be each fortnight, based on how much you borrow and how long you borrow it for (up to five years). Just find the amount you d like to borrow then look across the row to see how much the fortnightly repayments might be for the term you need to repay your loan. How does it work? Arranging your loan is easy Just tell us how much you d like and what the loan is for. We ll then work out how much you can borrow based on what your income is and what you can afford to pay back. Once your loan is approved we can put the money straight into your Westpac account or arrange payment of your existing debts for you. We ll help simplify your finances We ll help you set up a loan that suits you best and you ll only need to make one repayment every fortnight or month to suit your paydays. Your loan repayments will automatically come out of your nominated account, making it easier for you to budget. 6
What does it cost? There s an establishment charge of 250, which you can add to your loan balance. You ll also pay interest, which is added to your loan. The interest is based on a floating rate, which means it will go up and down as market interest rates change so you ll always pay a competitive rate. There are no other fees or charges, providing you make all your agreed repayments on time. Pay your loan off faster and save money With a Westpac personal loan there is absolutely no additional cost if you increase your regular repayments, pay off extra, or even pay your loan back early. So if you get extra money, such as a bonus from work, you might consider paying it into your personal loan. 7
Do you want to insure your loan? You can insure your loan with Westpac Loan Cover. This could help pay your loan if you lose your income because you re made redundant, or can t work because you re totally disabled by sickness or injury. Or, help pay off your loan for family in the event of your death. What does the cover pay? Your cover could pay a lump sum up to 50,000 if you die loan payments up to 1,200 a month if you lose your income. It s easy to get cover You ll qualify for cover automatically if you re between 18 and 59 when you apply, and if your loan will end by the time you turn 61. There are no medical forms to fill in, but some things are not covered, such as illnesses you already have. Please ask us for a copy of the policy document which sets out the terms, conditions, limits and exclusions. You only pay it once The cost is a one-off payment that s added to your loan, so you don t have to find extra money each payday for the insurance. 8
