Carpet Seam Sealer 8200 DESCRIPTION Shaw 8200 is recommended for seaming/sealing most types of carpet in direct glue down installation. Shaw 8200 can also be used in double stick applications; however, some carpet manufacturers recommend hot melting taping at the seams rather than seam sealing. USES 1. Seaming carpet in direct glue down installation. 2. Sealing carpet edges in residential application. LIMITATIONS 1. For interior use only. 2. Do not use on pvc resilient products. 3. Do not use on vinyl-backed carpets. 4. Do not use adhesive at temperatures less than 60 F (15 C) or above 90 F (32 C), or when relative humidity exceeds 65%. SETTING INSTRUCTIONS 1. MIXING Shaw 8200 is ready to use. No mixing is required. Simply open the container and apply. 2. APPLICATION 2.1 Prepare carpeting as per the manufacturer s recommendations and follow all industry standards to insure a successful installation. (Carpet and Rug Institutes 104 [commercial] and105 [residential]). 2.2 Apply a bead of adhesive along the trimmed edge (one side) where the face yarn enters the primary backing. 2.3 Carefully join the cut edges by moving the unsealed carpeting into the wet adhesive bead (within 10 minutes under normal conditions). The seam adhesive is designed to waterproof the two carpet edges at the primary backing. 2.4 Remove/clean wet adhesive using a damp cloth with water. Use mineral spirits to remove dried adhesive off carpet yarn. Do not pour solvent directly on carpet. 3. CLEAN UP Wet a clean, white cloth with mineral spirits and remove any excess adhesive on the face of the yarn. Note: Test in an inconspicuous area first. Do not apply solvent directly to carpet or saturate the carpet with solvent.

4. PROTECTION 4.1 Protect containers from freezing in transit and storage. 4.2 Provide for heated storage on site and deliver products at least 24 hours before work begins. 4.3 Protect carpet from regular traffic for a period of 24 hours. Open time Freeze/thaw stability at 0 F (-18 C) Clean ability Color Consistency 5-10 minutes Stable 5 cycles Water when wet, solvent when dry White Semi-liquid PACKAGING Container sizes: 8 oz (0,24 L); 32 oz/1 US quart (945 ml) SHELF LIFE 12 months when stored in original containers at room temperature in a dry heated area. APPROXIMATE COVERAGE 300-400 linear ft./qt. (95-125 linear meter/l) Varies with application NOTE Quantities shown are approximate and given for estimating purposes only. Actual job site coverages may vary according to substrate conditions, type of trowel used and setting practices. HEALTH AND SAFETY Consult the material safety data sheet for more information.
