Louisiana FY2015 AmeriCorps State & National Grant Coversheet Below is a breakdown of the funding being awarded to Louisiana. The state competitive funding and state formula funding will be granted to Volunteer Louisiana, the governor-appointed State Service Commission. The Commission will, in turn, award grants to nonprofit organizations and/or public agencies responding to local needs across the state. In addition, funding is also being awarded to one or more national direct grantees, which are organizations headquartered in Louisiana that support AmeriCorps members serving in more than one state. Through the state competitive grants alone, AmeriCorps members in Louisiana are projected to earn $3,986,897 in Education Awards to support their pursuit of higher education. The program will focus on the CNCS focus area of Disaster Services and if necessary, the members will be trained to deploy to assist short-term FEMA assignments for disaster response efforts. *

At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for providing in-class and school climate support to benefit 2,260 students and targeted tutoring and mentoring to 890 students that improves 684 drop out risk indicators in attendance, behavior, English and/or math.
