2013 Lawson Compensation Survey Results Surety Systems lawson.suretysystems.com 919-348-9614

Observations by Surety Systems Strong Lawson demand with engagements lasting longer. 57% of consultant/contractor participants have less than one month downtime between projects. 68% of consultants report that their average project length is in excess of 6 months. Strong Lawson Experience. Both consultant/contractor and full-time direct (perm) participants reported strong experience. 85.7% of consultants report 6 years or more Lawson experience with 40.5% at 15 years or greater. Of the full-time direct (perm) participants, 75.9% report having 6 years or more of Lawson experience. W2 Consulting/Contracting significantly outweighs 1099 classification. Over 76% of consultant/contractor survey participants reported working on a W2 basis. This significant shift away from 1099 classification is, we believe, a result of increased oversight and enforcement of employment classifications by the US Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service, and various state revenue agencies. Flexible work conditions. Survey participants report that they have flexibility to work remotely. Only 40.2% of full-time (perm) respondents and 22.3% of consultant respondents reported that they are required to work 100% onsite. Consultants work with multiple clients. Nearly 40% of active Lawson responding to the survey state they are currently engaged on projects with two or more clients. Compensation levels continue to vary. Consistent with the 2012 Lawson Compensation Survey Results, we observe again this year that hourly pay rates are highly variable based on what each consultant offers for the specific project. Full-time direct (perm) salaries are less variable, with 48.5% of all full-time survey participants reporting base salaries between $80,0000 - $109,000.
