The MSI Program has been working with CalOptima for the last two years to ensure that the approaching transition is both smooth and seamless for our clients. The remaining membership (30%) will be eligible to purchase subsidized insurance through Covered California California s Health Insurance Exchange. The California Department of Health Care Services has provided, as part of their transition planning, a series of notices regarding the transition. Under their transition plan, the first of these notices was mailed by the MSI Program between October 1 and October 11, 2013 and pertains to those who will transition to Medi-Cal. Those eligible for subsidized insurance through Covered California will receive a separate notice at a later date. To ensure that these notices reach the widest possible audience of eligible individuals, we are sending copies of the notices to our MSI Providers so that you and your patients are fully informed about important information on the upcoming ACA transition. Feel free to share with the MSI clients that you encounter. MSI staff is available to answer any questions that providers or clients may have. State of California-Health and Human Services Agency Department of Health Care Services October 11, 2013 Important Information About the Medical Services Initiative (MSI) Program move to Medi-Cal Dear Member: You are receiving this letter because you are currently enrolled in the Medical Services Initiative Program (Orange County's LIHP). New state and federal health care laws add a new program to Medi-Cal. If you are in the Medical Services Initiative Program in December 2013, your health benefits coverage will move automatically to the Medi-Cal Program on January 1, 2014. You do not have to do anything now. Your benefits won t be changed. You will get all of the same services you get now until December 31, 2013 as long as you stay enrolled. You will get another letter from the State in early November with more information about the move to Medi-Cal, the Medi-Cal health plan in your county and who to call if you have questions.
