ESIF Priority: Business Competitiveness Why? Too many businesses in the surviving/maintaining end Clusters need to be strengthened Business support is not joined up Growth - winners and losers e.g. Jobs variable up 10% in Brighton, down 10% Croydon since 2009

ESIF Priority: Low carbon: 5.7m Stimulate Low Carbon Environmental Goods and Services sector Stimulate demand for low carbon technologies across the economy Why? Economic growth in CtoC will bring environmental challenges LCEGs sector is currently embryonic

ESIF Priority: Skills for growth & productivity 14.3m Higher level and technical skills for our priority sectors Leadership and management STEM skills & languages for the global economy High quality information advice and guidance Why? The forecast growth in jobs in CtoC is in highly skilled jobs Lower skilled jobs are declining Young people without the right skills are at a disadvantage in the labour market

ESIF Priority: skills for employment and social inclusion 14.3 (min 20% ESF) Pre work employment support Integrated solutions to overcome multiple barriers to work Why? 55,300 unemployed people in Coast to Capital 68,100 economically inactive and wanting a job Building community leadership and capacity Higher unemployment rates among BAME groups and young people

Coast to Capital EAFRD priorities ( 3.8m) 1. Building knowledge and skills in rural areas 2. Funding new & developing non agricultural, micro, SMEs in rural areas 1. Supporting tourism in rural areas

CtoC ERDF Priorities 1. SME/HE/public sector collaborative research and innovation; 5 priority sectors ( 7.2m) 2 Business support for potential high growth businesses ( 7.2m) 3.Business support for all stages of SME development ( 8.6m) 4. Support LCEGS sector & develop its supply chain ( 5.7m)

Coast to Capital ESF priorities 5.Provide pre-work support through to sustained employment, including target groups ( 2.9m) 6.Support employment, self-employment & new employment models e.g. social enterprise( 4.3m) 7. Increase social inclusion through community action 8 to 10 projects? Likely to include interventions with NEETS, LTU, Family-focused provision, informal and community learning etc.
