Notification of the National Telecommunications Commission Re: Nature and Categories of Telecommunications Business Translation Whereas Section 5 () of the Act on Organization to Assign Radio Frequency and to Regulate the Broadcasting and Telecommunication Services, B.E. 543 (000) has vested upon the National Telecommunications Commission the authority to determine the nature and categories of telecommunications businesses; and by virtue of Section 7 of the Telecommunications Business Act, B.E. 544 (00), which requires any person who wishes to operate these telecommunications businesses to obtain appropriate telecommunication business license, the National Telecommunications Commission thereby issues a Notification on Nature and Categories of Telecommunications Businesses as follows: Clause The nature and categories of telecommunications business are determined by their being a network or facility-based and a service-based business as follows:. Considering their telecommunications network ownership and possessory right, telecommunications businesses with own telecommunications network shall be classified by nature of their telecommunications business into 4 categories as follows:.. Network provider and service provider.. Network provider only..3 Leasing the network for service provider only..4 Telecommunications facilities. Service-based telecommunication businesses shall be classified by the nature of their information based services provided to end users which fall into 3 categories as follows:.. Voice service.. Data service..3 Multimedia service Examples of telecommunications businesses classified according to their nature and categories appear in Appendices A and B in the Addendum to this Notification. Clause The National Telecommunications Commission may issue additional notification on the nature and categories of telecommunications businesses at a later date. Clause 3 This Notification shall take effect from the date of its promulgation in the Government Gazette.
