DSL & G.fast Testing Overview The UNH InterOperability Lab (UNH-IOL) has been testing Networking and Communications since 1988. Fully owned by the University of New Hampshire, the lab receives 100% of its funding from commercial companies in exchange for professional and testing services. Testing services include areas such as Ethernet, xdsl, Storage, Wireless, and Internet Protocol (including IPv6). Benefits of an DSL / G.fast Consortium Membership Access to Extensive Test Bed The UNH-IOL DSL Consortium maintains an extensive test be of DSLAM, CPE, DPU, and test equipment, allowing members access to equipment deployed by operators around the world. Testing in this environment provides an opportunity to pre-test deployments before equipment is submitted to RFP qualification processes or allows R&D departments to perform testing to finalize product designs. Access to custom Test Tools The UNH-IOL uses many in-house custom testing tools, software, and test automation platforms to ensure high quality, repeatable results. The results generated by this software have been subject to external review. Our technical expertise, test tools, and test bed will help you pin point bugs you may have missed. Not only will this free up valuable time for your company, it will also improve your user experience. Unsurpassed in house equipment Testing is conducted in the laboratory's 32,000+ square foot facility, which houses a multi-million dollar array of test equipment and the latest devices from Member companies. In return for their latest devices and support, Members are entitled to high-caliber interoperability testing against other vendors' devices. Group test events The corporate world is often more competitive than cooperative. For this reason we have created the group test event. This is an opportunity to gather with technological peers and test the interoperability of your device with others in order to create more seamless, quality networks worldwide. Proposed Process Since 1998, the DSL testing consortium at the UNH InterOperability lab has had a process in place to do independent DSL equipment analysis. The process that has been used by companies to achieve their DSL testing results is stated below. Figure 1: UNH-IOL General Testing Process Collaboration Model This proposal is to establish a working relationship with in which your company s equipment can receive DSL or G.fast testing results in a quick and effective manner. Testing Memberships allow a scalable approach to testing, as each membership allows test rotations to be scheduled throughout the year. Two variables dictate the amount of recommended testing: Number of test rounds that are needed to DSL & G.fast Testing Page 2 of 6 2015 UNH-IOL

achieve an all pass state and amount of equipment that needs testing. These variables must be discussed in further detail as the project develops. Sample Report Style The technical results will be documented in a standard report format. These reports will be sent to the membership owners via a protected PDF document, zip-file (for traces), or other requested formats. All results are delivered via our secure, online web portal, which also provides our members with a simple scheduling interface to stream line their next rounds of testing. A sample figure of our report format is included below. Figure 2: DSL Consortium Sample Report Membership Details The UNH-IOL DSL & G.fast Consortia offer multiple membership and pay-per-testing options, to help member companies engage with the groups in the most cost effective and efficient ways, while still providing the highest quality testing services. (See Proposed Process) Support for testing of several products, tested throughout the membership year Free regression testing Overtime options for expedited testing (subject to additional fees) Participation in all G.fast focused plugfests hosted by the UNH- IOL DSL Consortium Membership Total: Note 1: The Broadband Forum is currently in the process of creating the G.fast Certification Program, its associated test plans, and testing process. laboratory for this program and is working directly with the forum to launch this program as quickly as possible. The Expect launch is first quarter 2016. Note 2: Basic interoperability testing is available to consortium members interested in preparing their implementation for certification testing. UNH-IOL Usage Agreement & Consortium Charters Each members agrees to abide by at least two documents when participating in testing at the UNH-IOL.
