PURPOSE This call for Graduate Scholarships at Harvard University is addressed to Spanish graduates (licenciados, ingenieros, arquitectos, graduados, master) who enroll in one of the Graduate Programs at Harvard University in order to complete their studies. Preference is given to students who have attended one of the RCC Partner Universities. 2. SCOPE The following call offers graduate scholarships for the academic year 2016/ 2017 in any fields included in the graduate programs of the Harvard schools and departments that allow one to obtain a doctorate or master s degree. 3. COVERAGE 3.1. The scholarships are awarded for one year or one semester depending on the financial status of the student. The Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University and the RCC will determine the amount of the award, which can be used to cover tuition fees, health insurance, lodging and basic costs. The awardee will have to find his/her own accommodations. If needed, students will have to apply for an extension of the scholarship every academic year until they have completed their studies.
3.2. In the case that the scholarship covers all annual expenses calculated by Harvard University, it will not be compatible with any other type of income or scholarship for the same studies. If it does not cover the total amount of these expenses, it can be combined with any other scholarship or funding, as long as it is compatible with the basis of this scholarship. Please note that you must notify the RCC and the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University of this case. 4. REQUIREMENTS 4.1. Spanish graduates (licenciados, ingenieros, arquitectos, graduados, master) who enroll in one of the Graduate Programs at Harvard University in order to complete their studies can apply for our Graduate Scholarship. Preference is given to students who hold a degree from one of the RCC University Partners. 4.2. In order to receive this scholarship it is a necessary condition to have been admitted to a graduate program at one of Harvard University's schools or departments. This admission can be obtained by submitting all required documents (online or personally) to the corresponding center or office. Applicants must submit a copy of these documents by email to the RCC as well. In the case that the applicant has not received a response regarding his/her application from Harvard University by the deadline of this Graduate Scholarship, it is important to keep in mind that the awarding of our scholarship depends on this condition. A denial from Harvard University means the applicant is not eligible for this scholarship. 4.3. The consent of this Graduate Scholarship implies a commitment to the acceptance of all obligations mentioned in point 8 of this call. 4.4. The application and annexes have to be submitted online through the RCC's website (www.rcc.harvard.edu) by March 31, 11:59 pm, 2016. Applicants must submit the online application and all required admission materials no later than the stated deadline to be considered for admission. Only applications which fulfill all of the requirements of the call in due time will be taken into account. 5. DOCUMENTS 5.1. Letter to the Director of the RCC, using the enclosed template Annex I. 5.2. Curriculum Vitae according to the format required by the program of Harvard University you have applied to. 5.3. Certificate of English language knowledge, TOEFL ibt, with a minimum result of 100 points. In the case you do not have this certificate available by the time you are applying for our Graduate Scholarship, you must prove that you have taken the exam and submit the results afterwards in
order to be eligible. 5.4. Complete copy of the application for admission to a graduate program at Harvard University, including the "Statement of Purpose". 5.5. Copy of the letter of acceptance to the graduate program at Harvard University. In the case that you have not received the letter at the time of applying for the Graduate Scholarship, you must declare so, as this is a necessary requirement to be awarded with the scholarship. 5.6. Copy of the "Fellowship Information Form submitted to the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University. 6. SELECTION CRITERIA The Academic Council of the RCC will hear the opinion of the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University on the applications and will evaluate the candidates academic merits and financial needs. If considered necessary, some of the candidates might be asked for an interview with appropriate prior notification. The final decision of the Academic Council will be notified directly to the recipient and will not be subject to appeal. 7. RENEWAL OF SCHOLARSHIPS Candidates who received the scholarship during the academic year 2015/16 and would like to apply for a renewal, should submit the following documents before April 1, 2016 to the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University and the RCC (rcc@harvard.edu): 7.1. Application for renewal of the scholarship in English, in the form of a letter to the Director of the RCC, stating any changes in your financial situation for the academic year 2016/17 compared to the past academic year (if applicable). 7.2. Written approval from your supervisor at Harvard University. 7.3. Copy of all exam grades received in the first semester of the academic year 2015/16. 8. OBLIGATIONS OF SCHOLARSHIP HOLDERS 8.1. Prior to joining the RCC, accepted candidates must sign and send us their Statement of Agreement, accepting all of these obligations. 8.2. Complete the graduate studies for which this scholarship has been granted and obtain the program's degree. 8.3. Participate in activities to strengthen the RCC (conferences, seminars, cultural cycles, etc.) under the direction of the Director of the center. 8.4. Make noticeable mention in any lecture, presentation or interview of your status as an Associate
of the RCC that may be made during the time of your scholarship. It would be appreciated if you could send a copy of such publications to the RCC. 8.5. Immediately notify the RCC of any grant, scholarship or funding from any public or private organizations for the same or another research project, and return, if incompatible, the amounts received. 8.6. Submit a report in English, demonstrating all work carried out at Harvard University during the research period, two weeks after receiving the last monthly payment to the following email: rcc@harvard.edu 8.7. Apply for renewal of the scholarship, in case the studies exceed the period of one year, in accordance with the regulations of the corresponding call. Be aware that any breach of the above requirements without justified reason or prior permission will lead to the total or partial loss of rights and privileges granted by this Scholarship, including the refund of the aid.
