BCDVideo has announced the release of their second-generation of its SMARTcontrol Management Suite. The system-monitoring package comes standard on all of BCDVideo s enterprise access control and video recording platforms. SMARTcontrol 2.0 takes system monitoring to the next level simple and proactive. SMARTcontrol is unlike any other system, monitoring systems that merely sends an alert when something is not functioning inside the system. SMARTcontrol 2.0 makes troubleshooting easy and time-saving by indicating exactly what needs attention inside the system. The performance panel allows a single-pane view into the system performance, graphing 24 additional parameters including CPU, memory, hard drive, network, and CPU temperature. The software simultaneously logs performance for up to 48 hours to track patterns in system behavior. The SMARTalert monitoring panel allows for proactive 24x7 failure prevention with system behavior monitoring that can be integrated within Genetec software. SMARTalert allows the integrator or administrator to set up custom monitoring settings on a featureby-feature basis. Thresholds can be set to customize when alerts are sent out by . This diagnostic framework can monitor CPU, RAM, temperature, hard drive failure, and usage. With this feature, alerts can be tracked prior to any hardware failure to ensure zero downtime for the system. The built-in SMARTsupport feature opens up a service ticket directly to the BCDVideo tech support team or the integrator (dependent on the integrator s preference.) The SMARTvault and SMARTrestoration modules features allow you to remotely restore your system in minutes. 4 smartalert The SMARTalert menu is broken down into two views. The Dashboard shows you the amount of triggered alarms, what type, and the selected range of time. You can select to see the alerts by the last hour, last 48 hours, or a custom defined range. The graph will update dynamically. Logs for the selected time frame will be populated below the graph showing alert trigger time, type, reading, and if an item has gone down. The settings panel gives users a simple way to manage granular alerting. Eight parameters can be reported on Using the new custom SMPT support feature in SMARTcontrol 2.0 you are able to enter a valid address and to receive alerts. 5 {24/7} System monitoring Smartrestoration On units equipped with SMARTrestoration clicking the Initiate SMARTrestoration button will perform the following tasks: 1 Generate a support ticket with BCDVideo support This feature creates a support ticket that is saved on the system and ed out to BCDVideo s support desk. Once recieved, the support technician reviews the case. The customer is contacted within 24 hours of ticket creation. Backup SMARTcontrol database to SMARTvault module. When this feature is enabled, the SMARTcontrol software saves a backup of the setup file that is created when SMARTControl is fully setup. This is also saved on the secure module that is located on the mainboard of the server. 3Please note: Initiating a SMARTrestoration 2 Trigger a SMARTvault backup. When the SMARTVault system is triggered, the software generates a backup configuration file and saves the file on a safe and secure backup module that is located on the mainboard of the server. is not an automated process. 6 SMARTsupport a proactive support solution smartsupport SMARTsupport is a proactive support solution built into SMARTcontrol. Support tickets can be directly created with the BCDVideo engineering team on any internet connected server. Additionally, SMARTcontrol gives users an interface to manage, edit, and update tickets within the software. Creating a ticket automatically snapshots current log files and attaches them for the BCDVideo team to help diagnose an issue. To Create a New Ticket To Manage Edit, or Update a Ticket 1. Open SMARTcontrol and click on the SMARTsupport tab. 2. Fill out the ticket fields. 3. In description be as detailed as possible. Let the support team know how to recreate your issue and what steps lead up to the issue. 4. Click Submit Log files will be gathered and the ticket will be submitted to BCDVideo. 1. Open SMARTcontrol and click on the SMARTsupport tab. 2. On the top bar, click on Ticket History. 3. Your TicketID, date of last change, brief summary, and status are all listed. 4. Double clicking any ticket allows you to change its state, update, or add comments. Systems tab info The system info tab lists important details about your BCDVideo appliance. Serial Number of the chassis and server type are both important pieces of information when calling into BCDVideo technical support. The System Info tab also specifies where your appliance is equipped with SMARTrestoration or SMARTvault modules. Smartvault A secure onboard flash device that allows isolated storage of VMS configuration data. SMARTvault with SMARTcontrol can optionally back up your VMS configuration data securely. Simply click Browse and select your VMS configuration file or backup. Checking the Auto Save box will automatically back up this file at 14 day intervals to the SMARTvault device. Viewing SMARTvault logs is as easy as selecting a date span and clicking submit. Configuration Live Drive Select your Live Drive volume letter (if equipped). Archive Drive Select your Archive volume (if equipped). Network Selects the network device to be monitored on the Dashboard.
