1 Online Courses MATH Algebra I Algebra I emphasizes the importance of algebra in everyday life through hundreds of real-world examples. Assessments are designed to ensure that your understanding goes beyond rote memorization of steps and procedures. Upon successful course completion, you will have a strong foundation in Algebra I and will be prepared for other higher level math courses. (One Algebra II Starting with a review of basic algebra, you will learn polynomials, quadratic equations, exponential and logarithmic relations, and probability and statistics. Throughout the course, these mathematical concepts are applied to everyday occurrences to get a better understanding of how the world around us functions. (One Pre-Requisites: Must have approval from department chair. Algebra 1, Geometry AP Calculus AB Comparable to college and university calculus, this course helps prepare you for the Calculus AB Advanced Placement* exam. Study limits, continuity, differentiation, integrated algebraic, trigonometric, and transcendental functions, and the applications of derivatives and integrals. This course must be completed prior to the AP exam in May. (One Pre-Requisites: Must have approval from department chair. 3 HEALTH Health Opportunities through PE (Not UC approved) Your path to lifelong fitness starts here. You ll set a variety of goals that will guide you toward leading a healthy lifestyle. During your journey, you ll perform daily physical activity, design a personal fitness plan that suits your interests, and keep track of your fitness progress. You ll monitor your exercise and nutrition using a personalized wellness plan. To help you stay on track, this course uses a MOVband fitness monitor to calculate your daily moves and digitally share your workouts. We highly recommend the MOVband, which is available to FLVS students at a reduced price and can be used after the course is completed to continue healthy living. (One ENGLISH AP English Language and Composition Read and analyze prose written in various periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts while gaining an understanding of the interactions among a writer s purposes, audience expectations, and subjects. English I & II AP English Literature and Composition Develop critical standards for the appreciation of literary works and increase your sensitivity to literature as a shared experience. In each unit of the course, we explore a specific aspect of the human experience such as Laughter, Obstacles, Betrayal, and Fear. Through the study of literature, nonfiction, and life, we will explore what it means to be human, what it means to be fulfilled, triumphant, empowered, and transformed. English III In this course, students will acquire the language, reading, writing, and speaking/listening skills necessary for success in college, career, and beyond. Students will become critical readers and thinkers as they dive deeply into the texts presented throughout this course. Students will learn how to effectively research and integrate their findings, as well as cite their sources. (One Prerequisites: Must have approval from department chair. English I and II. English IV Why do people do what they do? English IV you will give you a front row seat to study and analyze the way language is used to express human motivation and research to examine the results of actions in the real world.
