3 COLARIS DIGITAL PRINTING SYSTEM FOR TEXTILE AND CARPET COLARIS INDUSTRIAL DIGITAL INKJET PRINT LINES COLARIS, the high performance digital tex le printer offers now an enhanced field of use as it can even be geared up to specialized carpet print lines. The printer offers unmatched flexibility and can be tailored to the needs of any poten al customer, no ma er it will be used as a fashion or carpet print line. All print lines can be combined with analogue or digital inline pre-treatment, fabric press sta on, various fabric drying and ink fixa on systems either inline or offline, whatever beeing beneficial to achieve the required print result. Due to it s modular design the COLARIS printers are suitable for prin ng on any kind of tex le incl. woven, kni ed and nonwoven substrates within a weight range from 30 through g/m². The substrates may be lightweight fashion fabric, kni ed apparel fabrics, home tex le, decora ve fabrics, window fashion, flags & banners, automo ve tex le, terry, velour and plush fabrics or even light and medium weight carpet of loop or velour structure. The printers are available with 4, 6 or 8 color set-up, with up to 16 print heads per color. Any combina on with a maximum of 64 print heads in total is possible. Thus makes the printer the most versa le workhorse for digital tex le and carpet prin ng today. With the design of this new COLARIS maximum a en on has been given to the economics of prin ng and to an eco-friendly print produc on. 4 Total length: appr. 12 m COLARIS - BASIC COLARIS digital tex le prin ng line for pretreated flat tex le, based on cellulose, proteine based fibres, polyester, polyamide incl. Lycra blends which can be printed with Reac ve, Acid, Disperse or direct Sublima on inks. It is widely used for fashion, apparel, home tex le, upholstery, decora ve fabrics, flags & banners, interior decora on, window fashion, sun blinds and shades, camping ar cles, automo ve and many more. Total length: appr. 18 m COLARIS - INLINE PRE-TREATMENT MAGNOROLL GMA COLARIS combined with in-line pre-treatment system MAGNOROLL acts bi func onal, to pretreat the fabric and to enhance the penetra on on heavy products, at reduced ink costs. The inline pre-treatment reduces process cost drama cally and increases print penetra on and fastness. On heavey substrates the separate padder pre-treatment is not needed anymore. 5 COLARIS DIGITAL PRINTING SYSTEM FOR TEXTILE AND CARPET Total length: appr. 17 m COLARIS - INLINE DIGITAL PRE-TREATMENT COLARIS prin ng line for velour velvet and other voluminous substrates. The Fabric is either supplied on A-frame or from plated stack, and is posi oned by the fabric guiding system onto the print bed. The DPT (Digital pre-treatment) applicator which is based on the ChromoJET prin ng system applies the pre-treatment digitally controlled at the required amount. The pre-treatment is then distributed and penetrated into the substrate by a distribu on press roller. Prin ng of the fabric is done in wet on wet condi on which enhances penetra on of the pile fabric and reduces ink consump on substan ally. Total length: appr. 19 m COLARIS - TOWELS COLARIS prin ng line for terry fabics. The terry fabric is taken from an A-frame or plated stack, passes the needle wheel fabric alignment system and is fixed in we aligned condi on onto the prin ng blanket. The DPT (Digital pre-treatment) applicator which is based on the ChromoJET prin ng system applies the pre-treatment which is then distributed by a traversing press-roller into the print substrate. Direct prin ng onto the wet fabric enhances the penetra on and allows to reduce the ink consump on remarkably Mai 2015 page 5

6 COLARIS INDUSTRIAL INKJET PRINTING ON CARPET COLARIS LINE - WITH INLINE DIGITAL PRE-TREATMENT A combina on of the ChromoJET valve based digital inkjet print system, successfully used in the carpet print industry for many years, with the COLARIS digital piezo based inkjet printer makes it possible to push the print resolu on beyond any limit known so far. The ChromoJET technology used as a digital applicator for inkjet pre-treatment onto the print substrate. The applied pre-treatment, equally distributed in the pile fabric by a penetra on roller, subsequently printed with the COLARIS inkjet piezo printer in a wet on wet process. This specially developed process combines the advantages of both systems such as the known penetra on from the ChromoJET technology with the high- resolu on prin ng by COLARIS inkjet piezo printer. Print resolu on can be even 800 dpi or more. A large color gamut with highest image quality including fine degrada on of colors are the benefit. Thus making reproduc on of photographic images much easier by using a real four-color prin ng with CMYK process colors Mai 2015 page 6

In tex le prin ng most important is to have the right ink amount to get a good penetra on and vibrant colours. This amount is normally specified by test prints. The ink amount or (ink laydown) is specified by the following parameters: Resolu on in X and Y axis Dropsize in picoliters Number of passes (number of passes is used to increase the x-dpi and therefore to increase ink amount) The ink laydown on a single colour can be calculated as follows: Ink lay-down (ml/m2) = X-dpi*1000mm/25.4mm * Y-dpi*1000mm/25.4mm * dropsize (pl) * number of passes /10E8 Simplified: Lay-down (ml/m2) = x-dpi * y-dpi * dropsize / EXAMPLE 2 pass with smallest drop size: 400 dpi * 800 dpi * 8pl / = 4 ml/m2 3 passes with biggest drop size: 400 dpi * 1200 dpi * 150pl / = 112 ml/m2 The actual ink laydown of a design is in most cases below the single colour max. ink lay-down! PRINT SPEED The print speed depends on the following parameters: Required ink lay-down Number of passes If you compare the performance of inkjet printers you should always use a printed sample and compare print quality, penetra on and the speed achieved on this sample.
