The vendor s Web Services strategy guarantees a standards-based implementation, and development and deployment tools, in line with what enterprises are looking for. Introduction Beneath all the hype and confusion about Web Services, there is a growing number of companies that are seriously looking to the technology for integrating their various applications over the web. To service their requirement, tool vendors would need to simplify the adoption of Web Services by providing tools that are easy to use for entrants and with advanced features for those who want to build power features. How enterprises will adopt Web Services From customer interactions, and in-house and independent analyst reports, we see Enterprise Web Services adoption happening in three phases 1. Phase One The initial forays will be into the publishing of non-critical applications over the intranet. Disparate systems would be connected and systems built for cross platform data exchange. This would lead to current components being exposed as Web Services that can be accessed ubiquitously. Phase Two As confidence continues to grow in the technology and skills mature, enterprises would deploy full-featured Web Services applications. Standards for transaction management, security and other services become crucial during this phase. Phase Three Systems would be exposed as services over extranet and Internet. This would potentially spawn new business models.
