2 RIM 235 is an infusion resin for manufacturing composite parts suc as rotorblades for wind turbines or boatbuilding. Tis epoxy resin system is specially suited to process all state of te art fabrics, suc as glass, carbon or aramide using common infusion teciques suc as VARIM, SCRIMP or RIM. Application Te Infusion resin system RIM 235 remains practically free of crystallisation, even if it is stored at low temperatures (<15 C/ <59 F). As te formulation contains only a very low percentage of reactice diluent, tis system sows a particularly good pysiological compatibility, even if it is being worked in open moulded processes. Altoug te initial cure at room temperature is good, te full mecanical properties will only be obtained after a suitable post cure cycle. Especially for operations at elevated temperatures (maximum 8 C/176 F), suc a post cure cycle is required to obtain te required termal stability. For optimum mecanical properties a eat treatment of minimum 5 C is required. Optimum processing temperatures are in te range of 15-4 C (59-14 F). Potlife depends on te coice of ardeners and can be varied between 1 min. and more tan 1. Te sortest working life is establised using RIMH 235. Pot life increases wit te increasing number of te dedicated ardener and can be as ig as >1 wit ardener RIMH 238. As te initial cure at room temperature is very slow as for te low reactive ardeners, some eat treatment sould be performed at minimum 4-5 C ( F) before demoulding te produced parts to ensure sort cycle times. RIM 235 features an extrordinary low mixed visosity, resulting in fast and complete fiber wetting at a ig transportation rate in infusion processes. However, if parts sould be produced using and lay-up tecniques, it is recommended to add some tixotropic agent, suc as Aerosil, to prevent drain out from vertical laminates, especially if noncrimp fabrics are being processed. Altoug RIM 235 is very unlikely to crystallize at low temperatures, storage conditions of 15-3 C (59-86 F) and low umidity are recommended. After dispensing material, te containers must again be closed carefully, to avoid contamination or absorption of water. All amine ardeners sow a cemial reaction wen exposed to air, known as blusing. Tis reaction is visible as wite carbamide crystals, wic could make te materials unusable. Te materials ave a self life of minimum 2 years, wen stored in teir originally sealed containers.

Adding more or less ardener will not result in a faster or slower cure, only incomplete curing wit limited performance, tat can not be corrected in any way. Resin and ardener must be mixed carefully. Mix until no clouding is visible in te mixing container. Special attention must be paid to te walls and bottom of te mixing container. Higer processing temperatures are possible, but will sorten pot life. An increase in temperature of 1 C will alve te pot life. Water (for example very ig umidity or contained in fabrics or fillers) causes an acceleration of te resin / ardener reaction. Different temperatures and umidities during processing ave no significant impact on te mecanical properties of te cured product.
