1 10 Things You Can Do Right Now To Stop Your Acne Each step is easy to implement and will give you immediate results Do you suffer from acne, bumps and breakouts? I spent most of my late 20 s dealing with this condition, spending hundreds of dollars on products and doctor s visits that didn t deliver lasting results. I finally took matters in to my own hands. 2 In this free guide I would like to share with you ten things (easy to implement and it won t cost you a dime) that you can start doing right now to help eliminate your acne. Unfortunately acne can never be cured, but it can be controlled. Here are some things you can do to help control your acne and achieve a clear even complexion. 1., Reduce your stress level. I know it's not easy, but I'm sure you can a find a way. When you are stressed, your body responds as though you are in danger and sends your body into survival mode by directing most of the blood to the vital organs such as the heart, lungs and brain. This means less blood goes to the skin, which leaves you looking washed out. Stress also raises your cortisol levels, which will lead to a secretion of androgen, a sex hormone that increases oil production. The excess oil production in the hair follicle will clog your pores and causes bumps and breakouts. 2., Avoid foods, vitamin supplements and sports drinks/bars containing iodides. Iodine is a trace mineral that is necessary for thyroid function. However, there are certain instances when people need to watch their iodine intake, such as when suffering from severe acne or other skin problems. The number one food source of iodine is salt. To correct iodine deficiency, table salt has been "iodized" and contains high levels of iodine. Seafood, fish, seaweed, fast foods and dairy products all contain high levels of iodine. Kelp tablets (which some people take for thyroid support) is much higher in iodine than fortified table salt. All these product will irritate the follicle walls and can cause acne flare-ups.

3 3., Avoid foods containing androgen hormones. Although Chocolate has a bad rap for causing acne many clinical experiments have proven that it doesn t cause or worsen acne. That doesn t mean that some chocolate candies do not have ingredients that can worsen acne. Foods high in androgens such as peanuts, peanut oil, peanut butter, corn oil, wheat germ, shellfish, organ meats, sweetbreads, beef and liver more likely will increase the severity of acne. I suggest for my clients various alternatives to the foods that they eat. For example, you can switch to almond butter which is equally delicious and a much healthier alternative to peanut butter. 4,. Be aware of the swimming pool! Some swimming pool disinfectants contain iodides and chlorine, which can cause skin problems for frequent swimmers. Many swimmers find that the combination of hot and humid weather combined with the physical exercise of swimming in chlorinated water can cause major acne flare-ups. 5., Do not pick!!! I know it's very tempting to squeeze and pick at every little break out that you have. Trust me, popping it will not help make it go away any faster. In most cases picking at your pimples will actually make the bacteria spread faster and infect other parts of your skin causing more inflammation. This inflammation will destroy healthy tissue and leave you with permanent scarring.

4 6., Break out the Ice. Instead of picking, rub ICE on pustules and pimples for about two minutes, twice a day. Keep it moving, don't let it sit in one place, otherwise you'll burn yourself. Ice will bring down the inflammation and if you treat your breakouts when they are first forming they will most likely go away. I recommend using small Dixie cups to fill with water and keep it in the freezer. It will come handy when you notice a red little bump forming on your face. 7., Use fragrance-free detergents. A lot of people have sensitivities to artificial fragrances and dyes, which can show up in the form of skin irritation. I recommend that you use fragrance free detergents such as Cheer Free, All Free & Clear, Tide Free or Arm & Hammer Free. Do not use fabric softeners and/or fabric softener sheets in the dryer, especially on pillowcases! They cause a waxy residue that can clog pores on acne-prone individuals. There is also some evidence that water softeners can lead to acne, especially those containing high amounts of potassium chloride. 8., Get enough sleep! While you re asleep your body is hard at work, making repairs and building collagen that keeps skin smooth and elastic. When you re in deep sleep, human growth hormone production increases. Your normal release of this hormone plays a key role in healing cells and tissues throughout your body, including your skin. Not getting enough sleep cuts that crucial repair time short, which can wreak havoc on your skin. Fine lines become more prominent, dark circles crop up, your complexion turns pale and your acne lesions will heal a lot slower. Lack of sleep definitely affects your skin. They don t

5 call it beauty sleep for nothing. Sleep is the body's natural beauty treatment. The amount of sleep you need depends on various factors, but most agree that your body needs a minimum of 7-9 hours of sleep to function properly and to keep you in good health. 9., Drink your water! We all know that drinking water is good for us, but we don t often focus on making this a habit. From healthy skin to protecting joints and helping detoxify your body, water is necessary for good health. Proper hydration is essential for healthy, younger-looking skin. Drinking water helps to give your skin the moisture it needs to maintain elasticity and suppleness and to prevent dryness. People with acne often confuse dry skin with dehydrated skin. Dry skin is lacking oil and dehydrated skin is lacking water. Unfortunately the products you use to reduce oil in your skin and to prevent acne to form usually depletes a lot of water. Dehydrated skin has trouble healing; it flakes more and is more prone to breakouts. There are some products designed to keep moisture in your skin and some are able to attract moisture out of the air to your skin, but nothing works as well as drinking a big glass of chilled, refreshing water. So how much should you drink? A rule of thumb is to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. Keep your water bottle with you throughout the day and just keep sipping. 10., Take Supplements to help heal your skin Zinc is an essential trace element for humans, and there is evidence that it acts in a similar way to antibiotics in improving the condition of inflamed acne. While the exact effective dosage is not clear, most studies indicate that mg is optimal. I advise that you do not take any more than 60 mg because excessive zinc may lead to deficiencies in other vitamins and minerals.

6 I recommend OptiZinc in particular because it contains copper, a mineral that can be depleted by zinc supplements. Also, many zinc supplements can upset your stomach, but OptiZinc is formulated to prevent nausea. Be sure to take it with food. The other great supplement to take when you are suffering from acne or other skin conditions is Omega- 3 fish oil.
