1 2015 ULI Fall Meeting WLI San Francisco District Council Scholarship Program ULI San Francisco is committed to the success of the four primary objectives established by the ULI Women s Leadership Initiative ( WLI ): Promote the advancement of women, throughout their careers, as leaders in the real estate industry Increase the number of women who serve in leadership positions in the real estate industry and in ULI Increase the visibility of women leaders in the real estate industry and in ULI Increase the number of women who are active ULI Full Members, and support the development of young women members as leaders in ULI and in their professions ULI San Francisco will award ten women members with a scholarship to the Fall Meeting to complement the ten scholarships offered by WLI at the global level and further the success of the program that has been offered since The ULI San Francisco Scholarship Program is designed to raise the visibility and number of women leaders in ULI and the real estate industry, and promote the participation of women at the 2015 Fall Meeting. The successful recipients of the ULI San Francisco Scholarship Program will be selected based on the member s ability to articulate how her involvement with ULI San Francisco and her attendance at the Fall Meeting will advance her professional interests and pursuits, and her likely future involvement with ULI, globally or at the District Council level. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have a minimum of five years experience in the real estate or land use industries and have shown leadership roles within ULI San Francisco or on a global level. ULI San Francisco intends to award five of the ten scholarships to ULI San Francisco members who are under 35 years old, with the objective of promoting leadership among younger women who may not otherwise be able to attend the 2015 Fall Meeting. The ULI San Francisco Scholarship includes complimentary registration to the ULI 2015 Fall Meeting and reimbursement of pre-approved out-of-pocket transportation and/or lodging expenses up to $1,000. Each scholarship recipient will attend all WLI-branded events at the ULI 2015 Fall Meeting, and after the Fall Meeting will prepare a summary of her key takeaways from the Fall Meeting, to be posted on the ULI San Francisco website. Globally introduced in 2012, the Women s Leadership Initiative was launched by ULI San Francisco in WLI is an active part of the ULI Center for Leadership. To date, the WLI has increased the visibility of women in the real estate profession through assistance with speaking engagements and publication opportunities, programming for the Spring and Fall meetings, organization of networking events, endorsement of women as candidates for ULI leadership positions, program collaborations with District Councils and member companies, educational studies and materials on women in leadership, and other activities. 1

3 2015 Fall Meeting WLI San Francisco District Council Scholarship Program Application Process ULI women members (Full, Associate and Young Leader members) who are active in ULI San Francisco are encouraged to apply for a 2015 Fall Meeting WLI San Francisco District Council Scholarship. The purpose of the program is to support the professional development of women ULI San Francisco members through participation in the 2015 Fall Meeting, and to advance one of the key objectives of WLI: to raise the visibility and number of women leaders in ULI and the real estate industry. Scholarships will be awarded for the 2015 Fall Meeting to members of ULI San Francisco who fit the following criteria: ULI San Francisco Commitment: Each scholarship recipient will demonstrate her engagement and leadership responsibility within ULI San Francisco, as well as her intent to continue her commitment to ULI San Francisco after the 2015 Fall Meeting Work experience: Each scholarship recipient will have a minimum of five years of experience in the real estate industry or related field, including development, architecture, planning, government, transportation, engineering, finance, sustainability, or the nonprofit sector. Each recipient will show leadership and responsibility in her professional career The ULI San Francisco Scholarship includes complimentary registration to the ULI 2015 Fall Meeting and reimbursement of pre-approved out-of-pocket transportation and/or lodging expenses up to $1,000. Each scholarship recipient will attend all WLI-branded events at the ULI 2015 Fall Meeting, and after the Fall Meeting will prepare a summary of her key takeaways from the Fall Meeting, to be posted on the ULI San Francisco website. Applications should be completed in full and returned with the candidate s resume and a letter of recommendation.
