4 INITIATOR/CO-CREATOR (Some Examples): Random Acts of Kindness: Creator and implementer of a program for elementary school children to learn the value of unexpected generosity, helping to repair the world one act at a time. Children at Sinai Academy of the Berkshires, in Jan. 2007, will imagine, design and deliver gifts of gratitude to community members who traditionally go unrecognized. Gems for Duchenne: Created, designed and executed a model program for fundraising in one geographic area to support Charley s Fund, a scientific research fund exploring state-of-the-art genetic research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Raised $65,000 in one evening, Sept Women s Fund of Western Mass. Ripple Effect Award: Designed and initiated program in 2005 to recognize and reward young women of the western region of Massachusetts who have been sponsored by a Women s Fund grant, grown from their experience and then have acted as a leader to bring that experience to their larger community and school environments, creating positive ripples for other women and girls. Women s Storytelling Conference: Initiated, co-designed and implemented a one-day annual event for 150 women and men. Goal was to offer a day of learning, self-expression, and self-care for adults and young adults through the experience of the value of their own story through various formats (art, music, writing, tap dance, drumming, song, self-defense, crafts, poetry, storytelling, and meditation/guided imagery). Conference sold out each year. Women in Health Care Conference: Co-created annual event for female physicians and health care providers in the Western Massachusetts region. Designed theme, hired speakers, lead workshops for 100 practitioners each year.
