1 DCMP Exam Preparation Syllabus Purpose: This course is specifically designed to prepare students for the Data Center Migration Professional exam, given by DCMMI. It is a two day course that allows students to focus time to learn and review the concepts and terms necessary to pass the DCMP exam, as well as tips and targeted materials that will assist students in reviewing and passing the exam. Audience: Data Center Migration Managers ready to sit for the DCMP exam, or Data Center Migration Managers looking to increase competency in the data center migration process. We work through the material together as a class using different modalities to help relate DCMMI terminology and concepts with students real world experience. Data Center Migration Code of Ethics Post-Course Review for DCMP Exam Two hour DCMP Exam Frequently Asked DCMP Exam Questions What is the Data Center Migration Professional (DCMP) Credential? The Data Center Migration Professional (DCMP) credential indicates that a Data Center Migration Manager has experience, can pass a test of comprehensive Data Center Migration knowledge, and has committed to an ethical code of conduct. Due to its rigor, it is one of the most highly-desired certifications in many industries (including government, IT, financial, and health care). This two-day course prepares you for taking the Data Center Migration Professional certification test, and provides 16 hours of formal training that can be applied towards DCMMI s data center migration training required for the DCMP exam. 4 What are the requirements to obtain the DCMP Credential? The DCMP requires that you have experience performing data center migrations, as a migration architect, migration manager, or as a key migration resource performing critical data center migration activities (such as performing data center discovery, creating migration move groups, gathering requirements, or performing migrations) during the data center migration lifecycle. Note that data center migrations must have been performed in the past ten years. DCMP Requirements for those with a Bachelor s Degree 5,000 hours of data center migration experience. Four years of data center migration experience over eight years. Forty hours of data center migration education. Successfully pass a 200 question written exam. DCMP Requirements for those with a High School Diploma or its equivalent 8,000 hours of data center migration experience. Six years of data center migration experience over ten years. Sixteen hours of data center migration education. Successfully pass a 200 question written exam. How long is the DCMP Exam? Participants will have four hours to take the 200 question exam. What if I don t meet the requirements to obtain the DCMP? Can I obtain an alternate credential? The Data Center Migration Associate in (DCMA) is a credential designed for people who have less experience in data center migrations. It does not require the same amount of experience or education, and the test is only 150 questions. DCMA Requirements for those with a Bachelor s Degree 2,500 hours of data center migration experience. Two years of data center migration experience over eight years. Sixteen hours of data center migration education. Successfully pass a 150 question written exam. DCMA Requirements for those with a High School Diploma or its equivalent 4,000 hours of data center migration experience. Three years of data center migration experience over ten years. Sixteen hours of data center migration education.

5 Successfully pass a 150 question written exam. How do I apply for the DCMP exam? 1. Read the instructions on the DCMMI site (found at 2. Document your data center migration experience according to the instructions. 3. You should expect to spend between hours documenting your information. 4. Submit your completed application to [email protected]. 5. You may be randomly selected for a verification audit. If selected, you must have your verification references forms, which you will need to submit along with a copy of your college transcripts (if applicable) and a certificate showing your educational hours. 6. Once your application is submitted and approved (which usually takes about 72 hours), you will receive a confirmation code. 7. Contact an authorized DCMMI training provider and schedule your exam. 8. After you complete the exam, the instructor will let you know whether you passed or failed. If you fail, you can retake the exam two more times. If you fail all three times, you will need to wait for one year from the last seating to retake the exam. How much does the exam cost and how much does it cost to join DCMMI? If you are a member of DCMMI.org, the cost of the exam is $400; otherwise the cost to take the DCMP exam is $600; a difference of $200. To join DCMMI as of January 2010, you will need to pay a fee of $125, with an initial membership fee of an additional $10, bringing the total to $135. As you can see it pays to join DCMMI if you take the DCMP exam. How should I study for the DCMP exam? Here are some proven techniques that will help you pass the exam on the first try: Sign up for the DCMP Exam course. It is certainly possible to study for the exam on your own, however, your chances of success will be increased and your study time will be reduced by taking an approved DCMP course. Read through course material prior to taking the DCMP exam at least three times. Create a study sheet and practice writing it out before you take a sample exam. Take the practice exams, and then go through the answers when you ve completed it. Read each explanation to understand why your answers were correct or incorrect. What materials do I need for the class? You should receive the following items once you register: Please bring a pen, and dress in layers, as the temperature may vary from room to room. We will provide a notebook, training material, highlighters, and practice exam. Do not bring a computer. During the course you will receive a practice exam, which you will take on the last day of class.

6 What should I do to prepare for the DCMP class? We highly recommend that students follow these steps prior to attending the DCMP course. 1. Work to set aside other activities during the days you are scheduled to attend the DCMP course. You will have long days (8-5) and the class will not be able to guarantee the passing of the DCMP exam if the students do not sit the entire class, and spend the appropriate time studying each night. 2. Complete the online DCMP application as much as possible before taking the class so that you can schedule your exam immediately following the course. 3. Visit the DCMP Certification Site at Now that I have my DCMP, what s next? In order to maintain your DCMP credential, you will need to obtain 45 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within a three year period. You obtain these CEUs from performing data center migrations, attending or presenting data center migration related speeches and workshops, and attending continuing education.
