2 STARLIMS CLOUD SERVICE OVERVIEW STARLIMS is pleased to announce STARLIMS Cloud Services, featuring the innovation of STARLIMS s industry-leading LIMS, combined with the worry-free, cost-effective reliability of a cloud-based solution, all for a monthly subscription fee. The STARLIMS Cloud is a secure application environment consisting of powerful server and storage technologies. The STARLIMS Cloud is managed by STARLIMS and can be accessed by customers via a web browser. STARLIMS Cloud Services is available for Manufacturing, Forensics, Environmental, and Public Health customers and will soon be expanded to include Clinical Research and Diagnostic customers. With STARLIMS Cloud Services, you do not have to purchase hardware, install software, or manage your system infrastructure. STARLIMS Cloud Services allows you to be more productive and cost-efficient by allowing you to concentrate on what matters most your business. A complete portfolio of cloud products and services ranging from creation of a public or private cloud environment for your company, to the support, maintenance, and performance monitoring of your STARLIMS cloud deployment are provided. The services we offer allow you to be more productive and cost-efficient by allowing you to concentrate on what matters most your business. What is included with my monthly subscription to STARLIMS Cloud Services? As with an on-premises deployment, users will access STARLIMS via a web browser and enjoy the same STARLIMS user experience. Users who have used STARLIMS in an on-premises deployment will not notice a difference. When STARLIMS applies patches and performs maintenance, will the system be unavailable? In order to minimize impact to your business, the STARLIMS Cloud Services Team will notify you within a specified time frame when maintenance needs to be performed. Can we still interface instruments? Instruments are interfaced the same way as in onpremises STARLIMS deployments. Your instrument workstations and data acquisition systems communicate with STARLIMS directly. What types of cloud offerings does STARLIMS Cloud Services offer? STARLIMS offers best-of-class Cloud environments, whether Public or Private, to complement your business Cloud Strategy. With the STARLIMS Public Cloud, customers can access their STARLIMS environment directly via the Internet. With the STARLIMS Private Cloud, customers can access their

5 How can we interface to our ERP, financial systems, and other external applications? The third-party software interfacing is accomplished the same way as for on-premises deployments. Are STARLIMS Professional Services still able to assist with our deployment? Yes, as with on-premises deployments, STARLIMS can provide as much assistance as you require. Our company is growing rapidly, how difficult is it to increase our user and computing resource (CPU, Memory, and Storage) needs to accommodate those changes? We can easily modify your user subscription and computing resource (CPU, Memory, and Storage) needs to match your business growth so that users are continually provided with an optimized environment. Does your company provide mechanisms for ensuring secure data transfers between our company and your organization? STARLIMS is a web- based application that utilizes application and database servers hosted in a secure data center. This allows users to securely connect by utilizing internet access. All data is hosted in a secure cloud based infrastructure and is delivered, managed, and accessed via the STARLIMS application. Data in-transit is secured with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) and, upon request, data at rest can be secured further with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE). I already have STARLIMS installed; can I move to STARLIMS Cloud Services? Both new customers and current STARLIMS customers can utilize STARLIMS Cloud Services. Who maintains the infrastructure in the cloud environment? The STARLIMS Cloud Services team is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure of your cloud environment. The customer is responsible for maintaining the STARLIMS application (security, configuration, and so on). Optionally, STARLIMS Cloud Services can maintain and configure your STARLIMS application. We need multiple STARLIMS environments. Is that possible with STARLIMS Cloud Services? STARLIMS offers Cloud Services for multiple environments such as development, testing, validation, training, and production. The STARLIMS Cloud Services Team can speed up any combination of development, testing, training, or production environments upon demand. STARLIMS Cloud Services can tailor a cloud environment to meet your requirements. Does STARLIMS Cloud Services offer a HIPAA compliant solution? STARLIMS offers a HIPAA compliant cloud service that meets HIPAA regulatory requirements. In addition, data is encrypted whether in transit or at rest. Who monitors system performance? The STARLIMS Cloud Services team is responsible for the STARLIMS Cloud infrastructure application s performance and database monitoring. We will respond and resolve performance issues in a timely manner to ensure that your system is optimized and tuned. How long is my data backed up? Normally, a minimum of 30 days of data shall be backed up. Depending on the customer s requirements, we can adjust data retention policies as needed. HIPAA customers will have data backed up and retained for a minimum of six years to meet regulatory requirements.
