1 Dr. Liudvika Leisyte Senior Research Associate Research Interests and Professional Background Liudvika Leišytė holds a PhD degree from the University of Twente, where she defended her dissertation on University Governance and Academic Research in Liudvika obtained the MPhil degree in International and Comparative Education from the University of Oslo (Norway) in 2002 and holds a post-graduate Diploma in International Business and a BA degree in Linguistics from Vilnius University (Lithuania). In the period of November July 2009, Liudvika Leišytė was awarded a postdoctoral fellow position in the Visiting Scholars Programme at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University. During her stay at the Center she pursued her research on university linkages with industry in high-tech research units, comparing the United States and Europe. She was involved in its Visiting Scholar s seminar, attended the STS Circle meetings at the Harvard Kennedy School and participated in the Cultural Workshop at the Department of Sociology. In addition, she was available for student supervision and lectures on the issues pertinent to European higher education at Harvard University, Boston College and Penn State University. At the University of Twente Liudvika Leišytė is involved in research and teaching in the areas of research governance and management, academic work and academic entrepreneurship. Besides, she is the Chair of the Twente Female Faculty Network Board since 2010 and member of the Faculty of Governance and Management Council since Her previous work experience includes, but is not limited to teaching and research at universities in Europe and the US, being an international educational advisor for Soros Foundation, and working as a protocol specialist at the Ministry of Economy in Lithuania. Besides, she has been a policy advisor to the Ministry of Science and Education in Lithuania on the issues of higher education and science governance, university mergers and infrastructure development. She also was a reviewer for the Lithuanian Research Council and National Science Foundation in the U.S. Liudvika has published two monographs, a number of chapters in edited books and peerreviewed articles in Higher Education, Higher Education Policy, Public Administration, Science and Public Policy. In 2008 she received the Early Career Best Paper Award in the PRIME conference in Mexico City for the paper on professional autonomy of university research units. She has been active member in professional communities (e.g. CHER, EGOS), chairing conference tracks and panels at EAIR, EASST, PRIME and ECPR conferences. In 2011, she was nominated by the University of Twente for the Dutch national LNVH early career award. Her major theoretical interests lie in the sociology of science and sociology of organizations. In particular, she is interested in the role of institutions in shaping academic identities and practices in different scientific and organizational fields. Her current research topics include: research governance and management, internationalization and Europeanisation of higher education, academic identities and practices.
