7 EXCEPTA MOBILE excepta Mobile: Total system protection for laptops and desktops ncoactive excepta Mobile is designed to provide companies the option to safeguard their laptops and/or desktops. Because we backup on block level all changes made will be backed-up and are restorable whenever necessary, local or remote. excepta Mobile stores the backed-up data in a very efficient way so the user does not have to worry about losing data or even worse, the Microsoft Windows environment including all personal settings and applications! By leveraging virtualization technics (local and optionally remotely) the entire machine can be made available on every removable storage device. If replication services are being used we can perform a Bare Metal Recovery to new hardware with exactly the same configuration, Windows/applications and data, as it was before. The Enterprise Plus version combines block level with File level backup to be able to comply with corporate policies. Separate replication engines will make sure only corporate data is being replicated to datacenters instead of entire volumes, which can have data that s prohibited to be replicated. File filters, and folder selections, combined with corporate policy settings will ensure only allowed data is being backed-up and replicated. Introducing a powerful search engine enables the user to search for specific files and/or folders that were previously deleted. Because the user does not have to submit a support ticket the helpdesk is offloaded and can focus on real business challenges. excepta Self Restore Enterprise enables companies to reduce the TCO of their IT landscape. 9 EXCEPTA FINDER excepta Finder : Search your AppAssure 5 repository for specific files and/or folders. The excepta Finder enables customers to search for files/folders in recovery points stored in an AppAssure 5 core server environment. Using the Finder will reduce efforts of searching for specific files/folders within recovery points without knowing exactly where these files/folders reside. Many users have data from which they exactly know where they are stored and when they are accidentally deleted. If deletion takes place an administrator will receive an incident registration, a phone call or a user at their desk asking to restore specific data. The administrator has to search for the correct recovery point and mount it to search the data, if the data is not in the mounted restore point the next has to be mounted and so on. With the Finder these actions do not have to take place and the AppAssure 5 console even does not have to be opened. Installing the Finder on a management workstation is highly recommended and restores can be done from within the application itself. The Finder is build is such a way multiple restore points can be search in 1 search query. The amount of recovery points to be used represents the amount of restore points to be searched from a given point in time. The Finder is multi-core ready and allows an administrator to add the entire core environment, this is a big advantage because all protected machines can be queried from a single interface. EXCEPTA ARCHIVER excepta Archiver: Archiving for AppAssure 5, comply with rules and laws The excepta Archiver helps companies to have automated, period-based archiving for AppAssure 5. This enables companies to comply with archiving rules and laws. Archiving is based on day, week, month, quarter or year, and is configurable per protected machine. The archives can be stored on disk, tape or Blu-ray media. By leveraging the software features the customer can decide which server has a specific archiving period. This will provide options to define which servers are high, middle, and/or low business critical. EXCEPTA ARCHIVER TAPE CONTROLLER excepta Archiver Tape Controller: Transport engine for excepta Archiver The excepta Archiver Tape Controller is installed on the designated server which controls the tape devices/robots/enclosures and automates the process of moving Archives to tape. The tape controller is multi-core ready, which means multiple core servers can send archives to the Tape Controller for processing. ncoactive excepta Solutions 9

10 EXCEPTA ANALYZER excepta Analyzer: Analyze important data to reduce helpdesk efforts The excepta Analyzer is especially built for AppAssure Replay 4 and AppAssure 5, the application will help support staff to quickly and efficiently analyze problems/issues within an AppAssure environment. All needed information, to pinpoint these problems/issues is presented in a single application and has a positive impact on helpdesk personnel which use the Analyzer. Reducing the TCO is the main goal for organizations and by using the Analyzer the time needed to solve issues can be reduced drastically. Cutting down the costs for support, and being able to resolve issues quickly, will also be beneficial for the service level the customer gets. Combined with monitoring & alerting the reporter fills the gap between reactive and proactive response to potential issues. The reporter also enables companies to generate summary reporting which can be very beneficial to check the status of protected servers and can even be used for procurement/billing purposes to customers. These settings can be pushed to group of servers divided per class, high-medium and/or low business critical, which makes it much easier to control your AppAssure 5 environment. excepta Configurator is built for AppAssure 5 environments. EXCEPTA RECOVERY PORTAL Recovery portal: Recover your data anytime, anyplace, anywhere. The Recovery portal ensures data, replicated by excepta Mobile - Personal cloud backup and AppAssure replicated data, can be restored. By introducing several security features no data can be stolen by potential hackers, thus we safeguard the data stream. The recovery portal is being controlled by ncoactive helpdesk personnel to be sure no data will be available for recoveries after the customer notifies us that they are finished restoring. To provide a solution for this ncoactive has introduced the excepta Bare Metal Recovery service. How does it work? The excepta mobile software is installed on the laptop and replicates the Microsoft Windows environment including all personal settings and applications to our datacenters. When continuous replication is operational, we are ready for your call when disaster strikes. This service includes the creation of a Virtual Standby on portable media. This enables a user to start the laptop as a virtual machine, so the work can continue. When you call us we will restore your Microsoft Windows environment including all personal settings and applications to an existing or a new laptop as it was before the disaster. 14 S EXCEPTA SOFTWARE SUITE excepta Mobile Snapshot intervals per volume Manually select the desired volumes to backup and set the required backup intervals per volume Local retention without restrictions Retention policies determine the amount of time local backups are being retained. After the set retention period data will be automatically removed without user intervention Replication to datacenter(s) with fair usage storage policies Replication to our datacenters enables users to restore the entire machine as it was after the last replication task. Because of the technologies we use the entire machine can be restored to the original source or to brand new hardware Local restore of data and windows volumes Restoring data, regardless of the size, can be triggered and done within a couple of minutes. Recovery of entire volumes can even be done faster by performing a live recovery Force snapshots and base images (new recovery point chains) If, for any reason, a new base image, new backup of an entire volume, has to be created this can be done manually. 22 Bare Metal Recovery Bare Metal Recovery on- and offsite Bare Metal Recovery can be used in conjunction with excepta Mobile and replication services. BMR enables restoration of your workstation/laptop to new or refurbished hardware without having to re-install your entire machine. Onsite recovery can be done using excepta Mobile but if hardware fails and is not repairable ncoactive can perform a BMR procedure if replication services are used ncoactive excepta Solutions 22
