Locale and Time Synchronization Requirements The mid tier machine and the SAS server machine must be set to the same time. The client tier is not required to be set to the same locale or time zone as the mid tier and SAS server machines. For information about configuring locales and time zones after you install and configure, see the chapter on post installation tasks in your SAS Revenue Optimization or SAS Size Optimization Administrator s Guide. 5

6 SAS Products and Software SAS Merchandise Intelligence runs on SAS 9.2. AIX 6.1 requires SAS 9.2 Maintenance Pack 3. For the required SAS products and software, you must obtain one or more of the following SAS Merchandise Intelligence bundles: SAS Markdown Optimization bundle SAS Promotion Optimization bundle SAS Regular Price Optimization bundle SAS Pack Optimization bundle SAS Size Profiling bundle Third-Party Software Requirements Server Tier Operating systems AIX 5.3 or AIX 6.1 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition(32 bit) Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition SP1 (64 bit) JRE The minimum version requirements of Java Development Kits (JDK) for use with SAS 9.2 can be found at this location: Note: If you want PBE encryption (which includes the Remember Password feature) you need to contact your IBM representative to obtain a JDK that contains encryption for the mid tier machine. Supported databases JDBC Drivers DB2 9.5 Oracle Database 11G Corresponding to version of database Note: If you have to use DB2 9.7 instead of DB2 9.5, be aware that the DB2 9.7 JDBC drivers will be problematic. On the MI Mid tier, use the DB2 9.5 drivers instead. Hibernate is installed automatically when you install the SAS Merchandise Intelligence Server. 6

7 Web App Server The mid tier runs within a Web application server. There are three possible Web application servers that you might use: JBoss Application Server IBM WebSphere Application Server (Network Deployment) BEA WebLogic Server 9.2 MP3 For 64 bit Windows: We test and certify on Weblogic 10gR Be sure to apply all of the appropriate patches documented here: vers/weblogicsw.html Be sure to apply JDK 1.6 update bit, not JDK 1.5 version that is included here: tml Installation of WebLogic Server requires D64 option on 64 bit windows mentioned here: vers/preinstall.html#wls64 Note: We test and certify only on the versions that are listed above. Currently SAS does not support WebSphere Application Server 7. However, support for WebSphere Application Server 7 is scheduled for SAS 9.2 M3, which will be supported in the first maintenance release of SAS Merchandise Intelligence 4.2. Other software required for SAS Web Report Studio Web Report Studio also requires the following: JSP server, such as Apache Tomcat WebDAV server, such as Apache Web Server Java 5, which is needed to use the DAVTree utility. In addition, you should configure the JAVA_HOME system environment variable to point to Java 5. Note: If you are running SAS Pack Optimization only, you do not need to install a JSP server and a WebDAV server. In SAS Promotion Optimization, Microsoft Excel is used for these purposes: create and edit the vendor deal spreadsheet template files that will be used by the system import and export vendor deals Note: At this time, we only support Excel format (an.xls file) for importing vendor deals into SAS Merchandise Intelligence (or exporting them from the solution). If you have a vendor deal in Excel 2007 format (identifiable as a file with an.xlsx extension), you must resave the file in Excel format.
