Research Interests: Intercollegiate Debate Contexts and Theory Organizational Communication Interpersonal Communication Persuasive Communication Teaching Philosophy: It is my goal as a teacher to help co-create a learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity and student empowerment. True education takes place as students and educators explore academic concepts in the spirit of mutual respect and responsibility. Learning is not something a teacher does to a student, but with a student. True education is both science and art. Sometimes the greatest learning experiences don t end with better answers, just better questions. Learning takes great energy, sometimes causes great anxiety, but is always worth it.
5 Statement on Diversity: It is imperative in this global arena in which we live that we recognize and value the inherent differences we share as individuals. The college classroom often functions as a format that provides individuals of different race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic and cultural backgrounds the opportunity to intersect with common purpose. In the end, we learn that we are more alike than different, and all inherently valuable.
