2 WHAT IS ARACNE? ARACNE is a not-for-profit association founded in 2005 in Naples. It was born from the experience of its members in the Philosophy Department of Federico II University where it was incubated ARACNE is an open network for cooperation among project designers, researchers, multimedia and interactive communication operators, cultural mediators, trainers and social workers. ARACNE designs and develops projects, initiatives and activities, both on national and international levels.

3 Goals ARACNE promotes active citizenship, people s rights and autonomy, through the shared development of knowledge, communication and ICT. ARACNE supports formal and informal networks, and (virtual) communities and organisations with its methodologies and tools for the management of knowledge processes in order to achieve their own aims if they are close to the ARACNE aims.

4 OUR APPROACH Learning is a social practice and knowledge is a social product. We consider users/players/target the main experts of the process we are going to promote, manage and assess. In each specific situation, ARACNE develops methodologies and tools fitting the specific context.

5 Fields of work ARACNE is active in the fields of social empowerment, the promotion and increase of people rights, European collaboration, local development, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, gender issues, equal opportunities. ARACNE gives value and importance to differences and culture(s), dealing with conflicts in a constructive way.

6 Activities ARACNE carries out social researches, assessment and evaluation activities, plans training programmes, trainers training and plans for the management of knowledge processes by trans-cultural vision and constructivist approach using the tools and the methodologies of: knowledge management, e- learning, content management, lifelong-learning, ICT, strategic communication, action-research.

7 The ARACNE Network The ARACNE network is fluid and open. It takes shape, it activates and it expands in relationship with shared goals and passions, and each time it assumes a new form. ARACNE operates on an international, national, regional and local level, with various subjects. ARACNE cooperates with Uninversities, NGOs, research teams, SME s, team of public bodies (bureaux of municipalities, employment centres, schools, trans-national research teams, public services) media agencies, ect.

8 Projects 2009/2011 The Arts of difference IT2-COM LLP Programme Comenius Regio. promoter: Municipality of Napoli; ARACNE activities: project design, responsible for Italian teachers training. Project issues: emotional education for conflict management and valorization of differences (the gender one, too). INMETT - Innovative Training Methodologies for Transport Trainers ES/09/LLP- LdV/TOI/ LLP Programme - Leonardo Da Vinci Transferto Of Innovation. Promoter: FTCM-UGT CyL Federación de Transporte, Comunicaciones y Mar - UGT Castilla y León (ES). ARACNE activities: design and carry out trainers training (e-learning); fitting ELF project outputs to INMETT project needs (ARACNE work team was the management and development team of ELF E-Learning Facilitator: analyses of their different roles within different e-learning methodologies and approaches n. I/05/B/F/PP LdV programme ) MAKNO: Managing knowledge in intercultural learning communities LLP Programme Grundtvig learning partnership IT2-GRU ; Promoter. ARACNE ARACNE activities: project design, project management, web site and virtual community management. Project issues: trans-cultural approach to non formal training

9 Projects 2007/2010 3L Welfare: Lifelong Learning & Welfare - Policies, good practices and innovative processes for training, guidance, employment and social inclusion: comparing the Danish, French, Spanish and Italian experiences funded by Provincia di Napoli (provincial authority). Promoter: A. Aliotta Philosophy Department Federico II University ARACNE activities: project design, executive plan design, dissemination and exploitation activities management, project management support. 2008/2009 Cicli e ricicli: la via femminile per un altra storia.(cycling and Re-cycling: a female way to another history) funded by Presidency of Council of Ministers Department of Rights and Equal Opportunities within the national call Istruzione e Pari Opportunità (Instruction and Equal Opportunities). Promoter ISIS (High School) Antonio Serra - Napoli ARACNE activities: teachers training, Gender guidance and gender impact assessment, design of three inter-disciplinary pilot paths in a gender point of view. Project issues: gender didactic activities
