1 The Institute of Trading and Finance Presents: The Master in Trading Course (For futures) Syllabus The IOTAF Master in Trading Course provides students with comprehensive training in trading financial futures and macro-fundamental analysis. Students will learn to master: Financial markets, with a macro focus on stock index futures, fixedincome, and interest-rate derivatives and foreign exchange Inter-market and intra-market correlations, yield curve analysis, and topdown macro-trading strategies. Financial Markets research and Forecasting methods. Algorithmic trading, Personalized Trade System Development Advanced Technical Analysis, including Candlesticks and Market Profile High-Probability Trade Set-ups in futures Range, Momentum and Scalping Methods Trading Mechanics and Price Action Analysis Risk management, and Psychology Students will also gain priceless trading experience as they are mentored - oneon-one - in a live market, by IOTAF s co-founders / instructors. This training takes place using the most advanced financial software and news sources available, including: Trade Technologies real time simulators, Bloomberg, Reuters, MNI, DJX and others.)

2 Classes consist of at least 30 hours of instructional time, as well as a minimum of 30 hours of personal and small group mentoring. Classes are limited to 6 students to ensure the highest level of personal training and attention. The course will be taught by at least two different instructors, each a specialist in their particular field (i.e., technical or macro-fundamental analysis) As well, on occasion, IOTAF may invite a guest speaker from the financial sector to teach a specific lesson in which they are expert, i.e., trade system development, algorithmic trading etc. Students will be exposed to critique and expected to show acquisition and development of knowledge in front of their peers. This ensures each student develops an objective and well-reasoned approach to market analysis. Students will also work in team settings. This helps each student develop a high level of confidence and discipline, which are the foundations of your eventual mastery and success. Finally, each student will receive a significant amount of one-onone personal training from our trader-instructors, each of whom has combined highly successful careers - as professional traders - with a passion for teaching - and imparting their knowledge to select students. This course has been designed and is taught in such a way that students do not just acquire a deep understanding of the markets. It is intended to transform each student into a highly successful professional trader. Each course will last approximately 1 month, with 3 classes per week. Part 4 of the course (mentoring and practice) will take place in the last week of the course. The Master Trader Course will be taught in the offices of IOTAF and OCRAM Capital (48, Rue Le Royer, O., Montreal)

3 PART 1 (3 hours) Introduction to Trading and Financial Market Analysis Stocks, Bonds, FX, Commodities and Derivatives (Futures and Options) Learn virtually everything you need to know about the most important markets in the world: where they trade, how and why they move, and what they correlate with. You will learn how individual traders, market makers, and institutions influence the financial markets (individual stocks, ETFs and indices), government bonds (short and long-end), Commodities (energy, agricultural and precious metals), and foreign exchange as well as their related derivatives (futures and options). By having access to live markets and a professional trading floor, you will be able to watch how traders assess market conditions from both a macro-fundamental and technical perspective. Students will also learn how to monitor unreported events - such as money flow and capital movements and use this technique in a consistently profitable trading strategy. PART 2 Technical Analysis and Charting (15 hours) 1. Rudiments of Technical Analysis In many respects, technical indicators are a simplistic way to quantify what expert traders already know. The fact is, most trading professionals do not use them, and those that do use them sparingly. Nevertheless, in this module you will learn the meaning behind the most useful and reliable indicators, how they should be used, and most importantly, when they should be used. By the end of the course you may realize that you have gained enough knowledge and market intuition that technical indicators will seem elementary to you. In Rudiments of Technical Analysis you will also acquire in-depth knowledge of how to use Fibonacci levels and chart patterns on a daily and intra-day basis. You will begin to recognize chart patterns at the micro-level, learn about optimum entry and exit points and so gain a huge edge over other market participants.

4 2. Japanese Candlesticks and Charting Methods Many people are unaware how far they can interpret Candlesticks patterns. You will learn to analyze these charts from a fundamental perspective. This will enable you to interpret extended candlestick patterns in the same way a grandmaster of chess can interpret how a game played out by analyzing a completed chess board. This approach is not only enlightening; it will save you a lot of money. There are certain probabilities attached to these developing patterns and you will learn how to avoid the false signals and take only the highest probability trades. 3. Market Profile Rudiments Market Profile is the preferred charting method for many professional traders, yet many new traders find these charts difficult to interpret and so abandon it. In light of this, we take a different approach to Market Profile. You will learn Market Profile concepts using Candlesticks in tandem with Market Profile charts and quickly gain a fundamental understanding of market action and probabilities with any type of chart. Not only will you study live market profile charts, you will make them as you trade and so gain a deeper understanding of how they develop. This module explains how commercial interests and locals interact on the exchange floor, giving you a firm understanding of the market s seemingly random gyrations. Students will train intensively as they learn to immediately recognize openings and day types, and thus gain an advantage over other traders in timing their trades. 4. Probability Based Trading Methods (Advanced Market Profile) Ironically, trading is not about being right, it is about managing probabilities. In this module, you will learn about the probabilities associated Market Profile open and day types, and related patterns. You will master over a dozen, high probability trade set-ups with specific directions on when to enter and exit a trade. You will develop a comprehensive market analysis based upon statistical probabilities which takes into consideration a number of factors, including: Fibonacci, Candlesticks, micro-patterns, daily and intra-day ranges, volume, and Market Profile.

5 The trade set-ups you learn in this module will serve as a foundation for a disciplined and successful trading plan as you will develop a disciplined, low risk strategy which builds your intuition and confidence. You will also learn how and when to use momentum, range and scalping methods as you develop your own particular style of trading. 5. Trade Plan Development Discipline and confidence are the foundations for your success. You will learn how to assess liquidity and capital flow, learn about open interest, how to use stops and profit objectives and build the confidence to maximize your winners and the discipline to minimize your losers. You will also be introduced to trading equity pairs, futures spread trading, and other trading styles. Students will be introduced to trading systems; they will understand how they are designed and understand their fallibilities and strengths. Students will begin to learn how to develop their own system and so develop a more disciplined trading style. In this module you will teach your peers your newly learned technique - in live and recorded markets - and receive objective critique from them, as well as your instructor. This will add greatly to the development of objective and disciplined trading habits. PART 3 (15 hours) Macro-Fundamentals and Market Mechanics 1. Macroeconomic Indicators and Central Banks Learn how economic data and the actions of the world's central banks impact markets. By understanding how and why markets react to economic indicators and central banks you will be able to profit from the volatility caused by fast money traders and capitalize on the sustained market moves caused by bigger and longer-term players such as investment banks and hedge funds. Never wonder again why markets are going up or down. We teach this module from a trader's point of view and by using live market feeds and premium real-time news sources we make it interesting, relevant and exciting. 2. News and Research and Trading Economic Indicators Fortunes are made and lost on timely information. We teach you how to make a fortune by reacting to financial, economic and geopolitical news and research in real-time. Learn how the most sophisticated traders use free and premium

6 information sources to make money. In this module we teach you how to use the Bloomberg and Reuter s terminal to research markets, develop profitable trading strategies and monitor market, financial, economic and geopolitical developments in real time. We also teach you how to react to market developments by using many different Newswires as well as various websites, audio squawks and platforms. Never trade without the information you need! 3. Inter-market and Intra-market Analysis Markets do not exist in a vacuum. They are dynamic entities which reflect changing perceptions of market conditions in a globalized financial community. In this module you will learn how they interact, when and how they influence the trading of financial products and what you can expect to gain from this knowledge. 4. Trading Mechanics Learn how markets are structured, how they are quoted and the different types of orders. In this module we teach how traders monitor markets and enter orders using professional platforms such as TT XTrader Pro. By understanding the mechanics of trading seemingly random gyrations of the market will begin to make sense. You will learn how to capitalize on the micro-volatility caused by traders as they enter and exit the market and will be able to optimize the positioning of your trades. In this module you will also learn how traders scalp the markets and you will begin to practice the technique yourself. 5. Trading Psychology and Related Subjects The difference between a break even trader and one who banks a million dollars a year is often a matter of mental conditioning and personal psychological factors. We use training methods which may be considered unconventional, but they allow us to assess the capacity of each student and help us help them achieve their personal best. Markets are not random; they fluctuate on both rational and irrational grounds. Understanding how to distinguish which of these two forces is operative at any point in time is a key to your mastery of the markets. In this module you will not only learn what is preventing you from achieving your personal best, you will begin a regimen designed specifically for you to conquer your personal enemies and the market.

7 Part 4 Real-Time Trading Practice and Mentoring (30 hours) You will apply your new-found knowledge in a highly structured practice trading regimen. This course is structured in such a way to help you develop your innate skills and prevent you from making irrational trades. Our methods of training are unique in the world of trading education; you will work both individually and in teams. You will learn how to react to highly stressful situations and develop a strong trading muscle before you use real money. At the start and end of each trading day you will make and receive pre-market and post-market analysis which will help you develop highly disciplined trading habits. One of IOTAF s senior partners will also analyse and comment on your trading record and offer his personal critique as you trade. You will also watch how professional traders make money, thanks to our partnership with one of the most sophisticated trading firms in Canada. In this module you will spend time with a senior trading partner as he makes money trading the markets. He will explain his rationale behind every trade, as well as entry and exit strategies. You will have access to a state-of-the-art trading simulator which includes 6 screens, live market data feeds, premium newswires and platforms such as Bloomberg and Reuters as well a simulated trading platform using TT-Sim.
