22 New York Statewide School Health Pressional Salary Survey December Conclusion This voluntary survey was conducted in an online format. A listserv note was distributed through our Center s managed listserv that reaches 9 school health pressionals. A series eight questions were asked and the results are illustrated by the charts in this survey report. The data collected in this survey reflects that School Health Pressional salaries correspond to the differing levels educational preparation the pressional, but also the geographic location in which the survey participant is located. This survey captured data from School Nurses (RNs), School Nurse Teachers (SNTs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs). The data shows that each category health pressional, with their unique duties and scope practice, has a salary range commensurate with their educational background and licensure or certification. A comparison data from the Basic Educational Data System (BEDS) the New York State Education Department suggests that a disparity may exist between the salaries school health pressionals and other student support services personnel. A comparison data collected in this survey with that a survey by the NYS Board Nursing demonstrates that school nurse salaries lag behind the average salary for nurses in NYS. Even when accounting for the shorter work, there is a $1,- $, difference. 9% the reported salaries for each category school health pressional in this survey fell within the following ranges: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) $1, - $39,999 School Nurse (RN) $, - $9, School Nurse Teacher (SNT) $, over $7, Nurse Practitioner (NP) $, over $7, Salaries differed also by the geographic location in which the survey participant works. Upstate New York salaries for all school health pressionals: Mainly in the $, - $9, range Downstate New York salary reports salaries: Mainly in the $3, - $6, range School health pressionals are vital team members in student support services in New York s schools as they work to promote health and the over all well being students.
