2 Our Purpose The Purpose of NCCC is to offer a ministry that aids in the development of each individual s potential: emotionally, physically, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. This endeavor includes counseling and educational services based on the Word of God. NCCC believes that God, through the Lord Jesus Christ, has all power to guide and carry people through the hurt, uncertainty, and pain in their lives. In the process of counseling and within the context of a caring community of believers, each individual client is offered healing, restoration, strength, love, and comfort. My father passed away in November, 2009, and this donation is a portion of our tithe from the settlement of his estate. We will be forever grateful for NCCC and a counselor for allowing God to use him during a terribly difficult time in our lives. 4 Meet the Counselors Bobbi Jo Brenner, MSW, LCSW I especially love to walk alongside those struggling with their faith and those who have questions about pain and suffering. It is because of my own brokenness that I feel God can use me to touch another s soul; just as God has used individuals in my life to touch my soul. My passion is to open my heart more and more to God, so that He can shine through my life and guide those through their own journey. Bobbi is a Licensed Certified Social Worker in the state of North Dakota. She holds a master s degree in Social Work from the University of Denver and a bachelor s degree in Social Work with a minor in Rehabilitation, from the University of North Dakota. Bobbi counsels on a variety of issues, including (but not exclusive to): grief and loss, depression, anxiety, acute or chronic health problems, co-dependency, and other relational issues. She has been a part of NCCC since 2004 and resides with her husband, Willi, in Grand Forks. Renae Broden, MSW, LICSW I have a heartfelt commitment to come alongside people in the difficulties of life, encouraging the renewal and change that God has for each person along the way. As people have the courage to face their struggles with a caring helper, they often find the freedom to live out more of who they are made to be. I bring over 25 years of experience at many levels, with all ages, in areas such as depression, anxiety, grief, loss, relationship issues, sexual abuse, eating disorders and more. Renae is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and hold a master s degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota. She has been a part of NCCC since its early development in Renae and her husband reside in Grand Forks along with their two children. 3

5 Dr. Marsha Lange, Family Physician I see our minds, bodies, and spirits interacting in a huge way. We are all created for a specific purpose, not to simply exist and struggle along. When our suffering is cleared out of the way, it frees us to do the things we were created to do. As a family physician, my role is to see if there is a physical reason for mental suffering. There are a number of medications that may be helpful to relieve the suffering. My goal is to identify and fix potential physical problems and to prescribe medications tailored to your particular circumstances. Dr. Lange have been a board-certified family physician for over 20 years. She has had the privilege of getting to know people throughout their life states in a variety of challenges. As a former military doctor, stationed overseas, Dr. Lange has a special interest in immigrants and people with military ties, although she enjoys people from all walks of life. She enjoys traveling and participating in medical mission trips along with her family. Dr. Lange and her husband have three children and two dogs and reside in Grand Forks. David Scott, MA, LAC, LAPC We are often tempted by worldly desires or idols (substance abuse, gambling, pornography, etc.) that can take a foothold in our lives and drive wedges between us and God and others in our lives. Counseling is a venue that can be used to identify those desires and/or idols that stand between us and our relationships with God and others. It serves as a vehicle for us to develop the primary principle presented in 1 Corinthians 10:13. With Christ, there is always a way out of any temptation this world has to offer. David is a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in North Dakota. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from the University of North Dakota. David has been a practicing therapist since 2008, specializing in individual, group, and family therapy for substance abuse and other behavioral health issues along with providing community education. He resides with his wife and four children in Grand Forks. 4

6 Randall Slavens, MSW, LICSW We often speak of troubles as a downward spiral. For many it is in these circumstances that we come to the end of our self-will and discover the upward spiral of humility, trust, surrender and transformation. I see counseling as an opportunity to allow God to continue His good work in us (Philippians 1:6) and to experience a renewing of our minds (Romans 12:1-2). It is in these times and places that we come to know God more fully and in turn to know ourselves. Randall is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in North Dakota and Minnesota. He holds a master s degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota and a bachelor s degree in Social Work from Minot State University. He has worked with children and families in North Dakota since Randall and his wife have four adult children and several grandchildren and reside in Grand Forks. Carol Torgerson, MS, LPC I see problems easier to solve when one has the help of someone who cares. It is tough to work things out on your own and you may be avoiding issues in your relationships. That holds you back from realizing your full potential. I want to help you make positive changes in your life, both immediate and lasting. Working together, you and I will strive towards solving any problems that may be standing in your way towards achieving a greater sense of self. Carol is a Licensed Professional Counselor in North Dakota and Minnesota. She holds a master s degrees in Counseling from North Dakota State University and a master s degree in Addiction from Grand Canyon University. She has worked as a school counselor since Carol and her husband reside in East Grand Forks, along with two of their 10 children. 5

7 Stephen Seay, LPCC, Executive Dir. Can the Christian Faith really supply answers to life s deepest struggles? With a deep, emphatic yes, I do believe the Faith does supply real healing in the human heart. My heart resonates with the message of the Gospel that brings hope for the broken hearted. This message is one of my deepest passions. Stephen a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in North Dakota. He holds a master s degree in Counseling from Cal State San Bernadino and from Colorado Christian University and a bachelor s degree from North Dakota State University. Stephen has spent 18 years on staff of Campus Crusade for Christ. Along with his case load, he is the Director of Northland Christian Counseling Center. Stephen and his wife have three adult children and reside in Grand Forks. Marna Klug, LPCC I love to journey with people on their road from suffering and brokenness because of how I have seen Jesus work in my life through broken times. I counsel individuals seeking assistance for a variety of issues, including relationship, codependency, anger, grief, and depression. I also counsel in group settings. Marna is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in North Dakota and Minnesota. She holds a master s degree in Counseling and Education from the University of North Dakota and a bachelor s degree from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She has worked as a personal and career counselor since Marna and her husband reside in East Grand Forks along with their son. 6
