3 Introduction 3 1 Introduction Welcome to NCPTC. This guide was prepared for you. If something in it doesn't make sense, or isn't clear, please let us know by ing us at [email protected]. Also if something should be included that would be helpful and beneficial, please let us know so that we can make it more useful for you and others who will be reading it. Paycomputermonitoring.com is the website that was created for your benefit. Initially designed to process payments (back in 2002), the website has grown to become a useful resource for obtaining help from our technicians, downloading the software, etc. Please familiarize yourself with it, All of us are here to help in any way that we can. One thing to keep in mind is that our system, and consequently all of us that work with it, will know by and refer to you by your case number. Please us at [email protected] or call us NCPTC (6278) at any time. 1.1 User Software License Agreement (Generic) NOTE: The purpose of the written license agreement is to replace the shrink-wrapped licensing that requires acknowledgement during the normal course of software installation. You will notice that no such acknowledgements exist in our download or officer installations. I. Parties This User Software License Agreement ( Agreement ) is made and entered by and between ( Agency ), having a mailing address of and ( User ), having a residence address of. II. Recital and Definitions A. Agency is the licensee of an Internet/online monitoring software application (Software) from a third party software service provider (Service Provider). Agency is authorized by Service Provider to sublicense Software to User. User acknowledges that they are a sub licensee of Software. B. Agency and Service Provider are independent agents, operating independently from each other, and have no authority to act for or on behalf of each other. C. User hereby permits Software to be installed on User s computer under the conditions in which Agency is authorized to install Software. User acknowledges that Service Provider is a third-party beneficiary to this Agreement, and, therefore, has the right to enforce this Agreement against User to the same extent as against Agency.

4 4 CIMP Packet III. Obligations A. User agrees to one of the following fee schedules: 1. Credit/Debit - User shall enroll in an automatic debit subscription or electronic funds transfer subscription with Service Provider at whereby User will be assessed a recurring, nonrefundable $29 monthly service fee per User s computer on which the software is installed. Depending on the agency's requirements, the first and last months service fees per computer may be assessed upon initial enrollment. User hereby authorizes Service Provider to inform Agency if Service Provider does not receive a monthly service fee on or before the beginning of a corresponding Internet/online and offline activity at the end of the month corresponding monthly period for which User has not paid the monthly service fee, regardless of when this period ends and apply the last months service fee thereto. User may pay any delinquent monthly service fee to Service Provider prior to Service Provider terminating the monitoring of User s Internet/online and offline activity of User. OR 2. Money Order - User shall pay Service Provider a $32 monthly service fee per computer on which the software is installed, with the first and last months service fees per computer assessed upon initial enrollment. if User is NOT enrolled in an automatic debit subscription or electronic funds transfer subscription with Service Provider. User hereby authorizes Service Provider to inform Agency if Service Provider does not receive a monthly service fee on or before the beginning of a corresponding monthly period and authorizes Service Provider to terminate monitoring Internet/online and offline activity at the end of the month corresponding monthly period for which User has not paid the monthly service fee, regardless of when this period ends and apply the last months service fee thereto. User may pay any delinquent monthly service fee to Service Provider prior to Service Provider terminating the monitoring of User s Internet/online and offline activity of User. B. In the event that user has incurred an outstanding balance and Service Provider must engage in collection efforts, user agrees to waive anonymity protection and may incur interest and penalties on the outstanding balance. IV. Warranty A. SERVICE PROVIDER EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SERVICE PROVIDER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT SOFTWARE WILL MEET USER S REQUIREMENTS (WHETHER SUCH REQUIREMENTS ARE KNOWN OR UNKNOWN TO SERVICE PROVIDER), OR THAT THE OPERATION OF SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS IN SOFTWARE WILL BE CORRECTED. FURTHERMORE, SERVICE PROVIDER DOES NOT WARRANT OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE USE OR THE RESULT OF THE USE OF SOFTWARE IN TERMS OF ITS CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE. NO ORAL OR WRITTEN INFORMATION OR ADVICE GIVEN BY SERVICE PROVIDER, AGENCY, OR AN AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF SERVICE PROVIDER OR AGENCY SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY OR IN ANY WAY INCREASE THE SCOPE OF THIS WARRANTY. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY. B. SERVICE PROVIDER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR DATA USE INCURRED BY USER OR ANY THIRD PARTY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION IN CONTRACT OR TORT, EVEN IF SERVICE PROVIDER OR ANY OTHER PERSON HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY.

Indemnification User shall protect, defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Service Provider, including Service Provider s officers, agents, employees and authorized contractors, from and against any claim, loss, damage, or expense (including court costs and attorneys fees) arising out of, or relating to, User s use of Software. Vl. Miscellaneous A. User acknowledges and agrees that Service Provider either owns all right, title and interest in and to, or is the authorized licensor of, Software and the documentation including without limitation, patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret rights. User shall not remove any trademark, copyright, restricted rights, proprietary rights or confidentiality notice included in or affixed to Software or any documentation. User may not translate, disassemble, reverse compile, or make derivative works of Software, nor may User modify or alter any portion of Software. User agrees to protect Software from unauthorized use by third parties. B. This Agreement shall be governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. If any provision of this Agreement shall be held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. User (signature) Case # Date Reporting Officer THIS DOCUMENT IS TO BE RETAINED BY THE AGENCY ONLY. 1.2 System Configurations Home Personal Computer (PC): The monitoring program can be installed on a home PC that meets the following requirements: Microsoft Windows Operating Systems: The monitoring program is only compatible on a PC running Microsoft Windows 8.1,8, 7, Vista or Windows XP. Hardware recommendations include a minimum of 512MB of RAM and a minimum 1.0GHz processor. Administrative Privileges Required for All User Accounts: The monitoring program requires that all user accounts on the machine have full administrative privileges during and after installation. User Account Control (UAC) must be Turned Off: The monitoring program requires that the UAC is disabled on Windows 7 and Vista machines. Directions for the monitored user to disable the UAC can be found on paycomputermonitoring.com Business Stand-Alone Computer: The monitoring program can be installed on a business computer as long as the machine does not need corporate-network services (i.e. it must be a stand-alone machine). It must meet the same requirements listed above for the Home Personal Computer. Business Networked Computer:

6 6 CIMP Packet The monitoring program (excluding the Internet LOCKDOWN feature and Biometric Integration) can be installed on a business computer with corporate-network services granted that certain permissions are given to the machine. Because of all these considerations, it is highly recommended that you contact a PCM technician prior to conducting an install on a business-networked computer. Microsoft Windows Operating Systems: The monitoring program is only compatible on a PC running Microsoft Windows 8,7, Vista or Windows XP. Hardware recommendations include a minimum of 512MB of RAM and a minimum 1.0GHz processor. Administrative Privileges Required for All User: The monitoring program requires full administrative privileges on all user accounts on the machine including local and network logins. User Account Control (UAC) must be Turned Off: The monitoring program requires that the UAC is disabled on Window 7 and Vista machines. Firewall and Port Modifications: Depending on the networked environment, firewall and port access may have to be modified.

This service is offered at no additional cost to you. If you are instructed to schedule a Live Assist with an NCPTC technician, 1. Please go to the website 2. Select option 2 - "Get help With PCM Live Assist By Appointment Only" 3. Fill in the required fields and then, when finished, click, "PayComputerMonitoring Live Assist". 4. A technician will engage with you via a chat session and assume control of your machine. 2 Before an Installation-Internet Monitoring 1. Go to 2. If you have a Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS, you will need to turn off the UAC.

13 Before an Installation-Internet Monitoring If multiple people will be sharing the computer, you will need to create User Accounts for each person. This is also required for biometric installations. 4. Before installing the monitoring software, please run the required diagnostic tests on the machine. This section explains how to: 1. Turn off UAC 2. Create User Accounts 3. Run diagnostic tests 2.1 Step 1 - Turn-off UAC 1. If you have a Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS, you will need to turn off the UAC. 2. Instructions can be found in this section and will vary depending on the operating system UAC - Windows 8 & 8.1 Instructions: 1. Select the "Desktop" icon 2. From the Desktop, right click on the toolbar on the bottom of the screen. 3. Select Task manager. 4. Once in the Task Manager, look for "File" in the top left hand corner, select it and then select "Run new task". Note you might need to click on "More Details" to see the "File" option.

14 14 CIMP Packet 5. In this box, type "Control Panel". Then Press OK. 6. Once the Control Panel is open, at the top right change the View By: to Large Icon. You should see icons form below. Navigate to the User Accounts icon and double click the icon. 7. At the bottom of the User Accounts Screen you will see the following link: "Change User Account Control settings" You will be prompted by the User Account Control Panel. Click Continue. 8.Drag the Slider bar to the bottom (Never Notify). Click Ok and restart your computer.

CLICK THE CONTROL PANEL BUTTON. 3. At the top right, CHANGE THE VIEW BY TO LARGE ICON. You should see icons form below. DOUBLE CLICK THE USER ACCOUNTS ICON.

16 16 CIMP Packet 4. At the bottom of the User Accounts Screen, you will see the link "Change User Account Control settings." Click the link. You will be prompted by the User Account Control Panel. Click Continue. 5. Drag the Slider bar to the bottom (Never Notify) and click OK. 6. RESTART the computer UAC- Windows Vista 1. Click the START MENU Button (small circle containing the Windows logo normally at the bottom left of the screen).

17 Before an Installation-Internet Monitoring Click the CONTROL PANEL Button. 3. Click the CLASSIC VIEW Link on the left. 4. You should see icons form on the right. Navigate to the USER ACCOUNTS ICON and double click the icon. 5. At the bottom of the User Accounts Screen you will see the "Turn User Account Control on or off" link. Click the link. You will be prompted by the User Account Control Panel. Click Continue.

18 18 CIMP Packet 6. You will then see a checkbox next to the statement: Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.uncheck THE BOX. 7. Click RESTART LATER and then CLICK OK 8. Navigate back to the control panel using steps 1 and 2. Click the icon SECURITY CENTER. 9. Click the link on the left labeled "Change the way Security Center alerts me." 10.Then click the option labeled "Don't notify me and don't display the icon."

19 Before an Installation-Internet Monitoring Then RESTART the computer. 2.2 Step 2 - Setup User Accounts This step is very important if more than one user is accessing the monitored machine. If you are the only one using the machine, this step is not necessary. NOTE: If a biometric device is going to be installed on your system, then this must be done. Purpose: Microsoft user accounts personalize Windows systems for each person using the computer and often consist of a username required for logging into the computer. Each individual having access to the monitored machine should have his/her own user account and protected password. User accounts are simple to set up and should be done prior to installation. INSTRUCTIONS: To set up a user account, go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Pick a task > Create a new account. 1. Type in an account name, and click Next. 2. Select Computer Administrator and click Create Account. 3. A user account should be created for each individual that will be using the computer.

20 20 CIMP Packet Windows 8 and 8.1 User Accounts 1. Select the "Desktop" app 2. Right click on the toolbar on the bottom of the screen. 3. Select Task manager. 4. Once in the Task Manager, look for "File" in the top left hand corner, then select "Run new task". Note you might need to click on "More Details" to see the "File" option. 5. In this box, type "Control Panel". Then Press OK.

Select Machine SetUp by clicking the link Step 3. Select "Machine Preparation- Diagnostic Testing" which requires Internet Explorer Step 4. Select "Next" to begin the process Step 5. Click "RUN" to Run the PCM Diagnose Test and a file will be created on your Desktopw Step 6. A file will be created and saved on your Desktop. The icon will look like this Step 7. Click "Next" to run the second test Step 8. Click "RUN" to Run the Security Check Test. The icon will look like this Step 9. Click "Next" to upload the files to PCM Step 10. Complete the online form.

29 Select .net Using Your Existing Address If you already have an existing address, you may continue to use it to receive INCOMING s. This is called consolidation. To consolidate your existing accounts into your Select account, click the link on the webpage and follow the directions. The procedure may differ depending on which provider - gmail,com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com - is currently hosting your . You have the flexibility to do this with Select .net. What is My PCM-ID and how do I find it? A PCM-ID is a number that directly links you with your Probation Officer. This number identifies your Supervising Officer and the Supervising Agency. Your Probation Officer or Supervising Officer will have this number and should be contacted if you wish to proceed with account setup / installation. 2. Why can I not access any internet website besides this com? If you cannot access any Internet websites, besides the ones relating to Pay Computer Monitoring, then most likely your access has been restricted due to a lack of payments. If you cannot afford the balance you owe, or do not agree with it you can contact NCPTC to try to work out a reasonable solution. Alternatively, you can call our support line at Why doesn't Select not work? 1. When setting up a select .net account, you may get an error. Please try to sign in anyway, and see if the account was created. 2. To consolidate an account, please click this link ( index.php?p=2_5_ -consolidation) 3. 38 38 CIMP Packet 4. PCM Store Problems If you are having a problem with the PCM Store, make sure to follow these steps: 1. Make sure you are using Internet Explorer. If you are not, close the browser and open Internet Explorer. Sometimes even Internet Explorer has a problem, if this occurs close all browser windows and open a new one. 2. Make sure you know your security Answer. If you forget your password, this will be the only way to retrieve your password. You can also contact Technical Support if you have forgotten your password, security answer and security question. 3. If there is no device to select from this could indicate a problem. If this occurs contact Technical Support and setup a Live Assist. 4. If you want to setup a payment subscription, just select the button "signup" next to your device name. 5. That is the only information we have that "identifies" you. 9. Does the Monitoring Software slow down my computer/internet? When the software is running properly, it will not affect the speed of your Internet or computer.
